Do you have a minor issue with your car that you've never fixed?
I like my car. It's fast. Bought it used. Still, I don't feel like fixing...

Air Conditioner: Never worked. Don't care.
Fog Lights: Never use them anyhow.
Driver's Seat: It's in the exact right place. It'll move forward, but not back without a struggle. Nobody else drives my car, so there it stays.

1. My first car had a light behind the left turn signal on the dash that never turned off.
Edited on Fri May-28-10 04:09 PM by Brickbat
I thought it was kind of cute.

ETA: It would blink when the blinker was on. But when the blinker was off, the light was on.

2. That reminds me of the MG that I used to drive when I was 18.
The left turn signal didn't work, so I had to use the lever to signal on-off-on-off. It was an easy fix, but I really didn't care enough to make the repair. I just liked having a tiny convertible with right-hand drive to cruise around in.

7. If it works, go with it.
That, however, sounds like something that you're going to need to deal with one of these days.

12. At the very least, get the CV boots/joints replaced.
Edited on Fri May-28-10 04:39 PM by Blue-Jay
One of these days, a CV joint will seize up and fuck the entire engine. It's best to get it fixed as soon as you're able.

10. So you have a half-ton noisemaker?
I'm no mechanic, but if you have a car that doesn't move, you might need some help.

5. I'd really like a shorter throw shifter.
Of all the performance cars I've ever driven, this one has the longest shift throw. I'm not going to bother messing with it, though.

6. My last car (may she rest in piece) never got the 'Corolla' replaced on the trunk
After I first got the car the trunk was smashed by a snowplow. The driver of the snow plow insisted he pay cash to have the trunk fixed because his insurance would skyrocket if he called it in. Being a nice person I said ok. I mean the car was drivable just had a big dent in the trunk lid.

So when I finally took it to the body shop he asked me to use it seemed to take forever to get the trunk repaired (he paid for rental too). And on a friday before a weekend I wanted to go away for a few days I was desperate for my car back. The car was ready to go for everything except putting the word 'COROLLA' back on the trunk - which would take one more day to finish. I was so pissed I just said I would bring the car back and they could do it then - I really wanted my car back. So I got the car but never bothered to take it back for the 'COROLLA' - figured it wasn't going to do anything in improve or hurt the car. And since Blue Corollas are pretty common I always new which car was mine.

15. Yup...it's not really an issue exactly...
I backed into a wall and scraped the corner of my rear bumper...

I've never gotten it fixed.

19. I've got an old van...
Turn signals sometimes work, sometimes don't.

Alternator light stays on ever since I had it replaced.

Oil and coolant leaks.

Radio only gets NPR.

Headlight alignment all fucked up, I try not to drive at night.

Fan for heater/AC no longer works.

One wiper broken.

It's got a lot of character.

21. Rock chips on windshield; too small to fill, can only be fixed by replacing windshield
The chips won't become cracks - they're just too small, but they bug me. I'm not sure if they bug me $400 though.

22. The display on the stereo is messed up.
It was like that when I bought it. I'll replace it eventually, but it's a pretty low priority because it's annoying but not enough that I'm in a hurry to run out and spend a bunch of money.

23. Clock is busted.
Tried to change the time to DST one time, and now the "hours" button is stuck down. The clock just scrolls through 12:00, 1:00, 2:00...

It's actually entertaining if I've got a new passenger in the car. They'll say "What's up with your clock?" And I'll say "HANG ON!!" and press myself back in my seat like we're travelling at light speed.
