Video: Indians Pitcher David Huff hit in the head by A-Rod line drive (Warning: Unsettling)
This is a repost as it didn't belong in the political video forum.

Note: He is OK, CT scan is positive and he never lost consciousness or memory. Hopefully, there will be no long term damage!

All I can say is OUCH!

1. yep that is a bad situation.
Edited on Sat May-29-10 07:52 PM by RandomThoughts
Looks like a reversal using violence.
It has the yes, Cleveland Indians 0, New York Yankees 2, and even the 50 pitches, and the name ARod, and David, It also has 1 Out. Could be soldier servant comment. Cleveland Indian and New York Yankees have some symbolism.

So the question becomes who is New York, Who is ARod, Who is David, what is 1 and 2, and what is the method of the symbolism.

Even has the number 13, and the number 28 from Abbot and Costello routine. Possibly about the bad math done in many areas, or the pointing of that out.

Although it is a use of violence, and someone getting hurt. So it would be best guess to be from the bad side.

Even has SAC Strategic Air Command Fly, or Sacrifice Fly, so really looks like something more then a normal event.

If even real.

It also has Delta symbol behind plate which is change. And Budweiser behind the pitcher.

3. If the video was real, it is not a normal event.
Edited on Sat May-29-10 07:25 PM by RandomThoughts
Although got a response from post in another thread, the event was from things that hate. Explains why someone was hurt.

On a side note.
Whats on second?

Interesting.

Glad Pitcher is OK.

4. Huh?
Yes this happened, and the guy was hurt pretty badly. I guess I don't get what you are saying, but then again, I have never posted in the lounge, so may be some inside joke I don't get. :D

I was directed here by the moderator.

6. Not a joke, a sad event.
I hope the guy is ok.

Thinking it is a joke, misses the point of the person being hurt. Hence the side it is from.

However the video may not be real.

9. The MLB has it on their site from the live telecast of the game
I linked this one as the MLB one doesn't show ARod's response. You have to know he had incredible knots in his stomach.

I know he gets a lot of shit (and rightfully so in most cases), but this was a horrific accident.

15. Yes, it is not the person Arod that is to blame in any way.
I am not speaking about him. Although there could be some ideological connection, that exact event is not his doing, and he did not have the intent of that action, and has many good qualities, and some bad, like most people.

And it is horrific, bad side stuff.

17. I make many comments on thoughts that are quite normal.
Edited on Sat May-29-10 07:48 PM by RandomThoughts
Although there is more to existence then normal. Not saying I can know what those things are exactly, nor that I am always correct, I am only saying there are coincidences above statistical sense. In that it should be known that there is a supernatural existence, but the form of that depends also on how a person thinks and feels.

14. indicating that only an American writer can receive...
the award for fction, unlike Solzinitski whose fiction doesn't hold water.
Comrades - friends, we are gathered here not only to accept in behalf
of one recluse - one who has found that the world in itself which seems
to be a time not of the toad - to quote even Studs TurKAL. And many people
ask "Who are Studs TurKAL?" It's not "Who are Studs TurKAL?" it's
"Who am Studs TurKAL?" This in itself as an edifice of the great glory
that has gone beyond, and the intuitive feeling of the American people,
based on the assumption that the intelligence not only as Mencken once said,
"He who underestimates the American pubic - public, will not go broke."
This is merely a small indication of this vast throng gathered here to once
again behold and to perceive that which has gone behind and to that which
might go forward into the future...we've got to hurdle these obstacles.
This is the main deterrent upon which we have gathered our strength and all
the others who say, "What the hell did that get?" - We don't know. We've got to
peforce withold the loving boy...

12. In my original thread, one DUer mentioned getting clobbed in the foreehead
pitching a slow-pitch softball game and seeing stars for 2 days.

I can't even imagine what this guy is dealing with tonight. Will say that I waited to post the vid until I saw the followup about his diagnosis. That was a huge relief. They said at the time that they would keep him for a few hours for further observation and then send him on.

That looked like it beaned him just above his left ear. Owww!

In the course of watching this video, I happened to see this in the lists of related videos. I could only watch about a minute of it, if that, but thought folks here would get a laugh out of it.

18. I was watching the day that Gil McDougal hit Herb Score
Edited on Sat May-29-10 07:58 PM by rurallib
Oddly - Yanks v Indians.
I must have been @7.
Score was a lefty with a blistering fastball and great curve.
IIRC (memory fades) Mcdougall drove it back through the box and caught Score in the left eye.
Score tried to come back, but he was pretty much done.
Think he may be an Indians broadcaster yet.
ETA - There was but one game on TV a week then. Thank goodness they didn't have replay.
ETA#@ I think Score was 21 at the time.

21. This was in the 50s?
There was mention of a death in the 20s from this and a guy in the 50s who tried to keep playing, but couldn't get the mojo back so tuned to announcing and became one of the most popular announcers in the league. I think I would kiss dirt after every pitch going forward if I ever got hit.

Sorry, didn't pay attention to names/dates, but sounds like the same incident.

23. Herb died a few years ago.
Let me see...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Herb_Score

I was thinking the exact same thing when I read this thread.

Herb was a great guy, just great.

When my kids were little, we went to a game at the old Stadium. Herb was announcing then, and we were seated near where the radio and tv guys got access to the pressbox, when he was walking by to get ready for the game after some on-field interviews. I said to my kids, "That's Herb Score, the guy that calls the game on the radio, and he used to pitch for the Indians when I was your age. He had a blazing fastball."

Herb heard me, came over and sat down, talked to me and the kids about baseball for a couple of minutes, signed their programs and gloves, shook all our hands, then went up to the booth.

Real gentleman, and an all-around nice guy.

Everyone liked Herb. I never heard one fan or player say a bad word about him, as a player or an announcer.

28. Wow - I'm glad he is okay -
but I bet he'll be like John Olerud, wearing his batting helmet in the field from now on!

Did you see the velocity with which the ball LEFT his head?!?! It was still that fast AFTER his head absorbed momentum.
