1. I'm pretty much meh on the whole thing.
I think the original was great (one of the few cop shows that didn't rely on car chases and gun fights), but I have little interest in this. I'll check out an episode or two, but I'm not a big tv guy to start with.

And who is going to play Wo Fat?????

4. Steve McGarrett's Mercury was not well suited for car chases in Hawaii.
He drove a 1968 Mercury Parklane Brougham 4-door hardtop Sedan equipped, with a 428-4V (345 hp). That tank might have been a good interceptor on mainland interstate freeways, but it was have been a turd chasing cars on twisting two lane roads in Hawaii.

5. Actually it was a detective model w/ beefed up suspension
dual sway bars, Close ratio steering box, skid plates and HD shocks. Handled remarkably well vs the primitive cars of that day.

6. I'm sure it handled well enough considering, but it weighed way too much

11. Pontiac Firebird, Shelby Mustang, Chevrolet Camaro, etc
Hardly sports cars in my world, but all could be had with huge V-8's and were significantly lighter than the 1968 Mercury Parklane Brougham by about half a ton.

The '74 Mercury Marquis, the second car used in the series, was used in shooting the new pilot. Jack Lord gave the car to his trusted stunt double and stand-in who he maintained the engine all these years. Close to 200,000 miles!

tires squealing at every opportunity...

2. Are they keeping the classic opening theme song?
I don't really remember much about the show other than the song, the title sequence with the women shaking their grass skirts and "book 'em danno"

8. That's all I remember about the original.
And Jack Lord's "senatorial hair-do".

It might be an OK show, but I can't say that I'm looking forward to it.

10. I always loved that show's flagrant disregard for the Bill of Rights. It was the 24 of its day.
I mean, I like the Bill of Rights & all in real life. But you have to admit all that due process shit is what killed L&O.

perps.
Each episode ends just before their Miranda rights would be read.

CBS is rolling out a Five-0 retread when they won't even look at my treatment for CSI:Star Trek?

16. noooo, they need to re-run the old episodes!!!
There is no way they are gonna be able to ever duplicate Hawaii 5-0 successfully. There is only one Hawaii 5-0, it just won't work in this present day time, it's only magical in the 60's, only 1 McGarrett, book em Dano, leave it alone CBS and show the old stuff!!!

20. I heard that Orly Taitz was executive producing the new series.
Reportedly, the new McGarrett will spend every episode scouring the islands for Obama's birth certificate.

21. I'm still mourning the loss of Numb3rs
and I doubt an H5O retread will fill the void. I will take a look at Morrow's new project, The Whole Truth as well as the direct replacment for Numb3rs, Body of Proof because well, it has Dana Delany. Other than that I'm not seeing a whole lot to get excited about.

And we joke that Daniel Dae Kim just didn't want to leave Hawaii after "LOST", so he took this on.

31. I have been unable to work, unable to sleep, unable to eat, unable to read, unable to think all
because, after suffering all these years from Hawaii-Five-O withdrawl, the show will finally be on again.

Suddenly the void in my life seems filled; there is something to live for; once again there is meaning in the world.

I will have to leave my family, move in to an appliance store where I can watch it on 50 screens.

I'm so excited...
