A dying friend just experienced the moment of a lifetime.
Ted is a client turned friend. He's had cancer for a while now, and it's catching up to him. He doesn't have a lot of time left.

It was '53, and he was in the Navy, preparing to board a battleship for duty. He'd married this young woman and she was going to have his child. However, her parents had the marriage annulled because they thought she was too young and they feared he would never survive his military duty.

He understood, and accepted it. He never saw his daughter, nor did he ever find out where she was.

Two nights ago she called him.

She wants to meet him just so she knows who her real father is. She understands the history of why they never met, and she tracked him down on her own initiative. If he lives long enough (and stays "healthy" long enough) he intends to travel to her when possible just to see her face once.

Not a bad conclusion to a pain-filled life.

2. My dear Prisoner_Number_Six!
What a great story!

And how appropriate for Memorial Day...

I hope they get to meet too...

Completing the circle is something everyone should get to do, no matter what sort of circle it is...

3. I would be afraid to wait too long.
Is there a reason she can't come to him?

I hope they do get to meet and have some time to talk before it's too late. :hi:

4. That is what I was thinking.
If that was my Dad I would be on the way tomorrow.

Hope the meeting is a good one.

6. I don't know how far away she is from him
but can he afford to buy her fare to him? Or can his friends all kick in and help?

8. He's flat broke and in 'n out of the hospital
I know little about his social circle.

I can't help because I have a cancer victim of my own living with me. Not much spare stretch left in the rubber band.

9. I will continue to hope that she is able to see him soon.
This is so important. I wonder if he has friends that could bring her to him. Maybe someone has frequent flier miles or something.

holding out hope that they are reunited.
