People who OFFER to do something NICE for you with no intention of DOING it: Bottom rung of humanity |
|
Met with a client recently. Designed his Website "pro bono," AKA FREE, AKA "for the good of the community.
Still feel good avout the Website and the organization. It as the right thing to do and I have no regrets.
But this guy OFFERED to write a testimonial for the work I did, and the FREE maintenance / updates I CONTINUE TO DO...a MONTH ago.
Write it or kiss my ass. Don't offer it and not do it.
End of rant.

2. I can't give a free pass on any level... |

...my curse is that my word is my bond.
I say I'm gonna do it, I do it, when I said I would.
And I find out I'm in the minority. I have no right to expect my code of conduct to be present in any other man or woman.
That's OK...I'm thinking of a way to send a "gentle reminder" that doesn't reveal my displeasure in a promise that wasn't kept.

3. That is why it is important to say clearly that a person does not do what it is not possible. |

If something is beyond their control to do, they should not say it is them making something happen. Interestingly that does not change thinking what should be done.
Although it is possible to postulate outcomes based on systems, however the claim of doing something made by people is many times disingenuous.
Also consistency in what a person thinks should be done is also important. Without claiming knowing for sure. Although without accepting alternate alternatives that have not been shown to be better.
For example, there are many systems, or information about systems that do not make sense, so why accept them. And personally speaking there are things that need to be correct, so why accept a state that is not where it should be.
However to claim a person can change those things is to focus on effect, not intent. And effect requires the action of more then just an individual, so promises of effect don't seem to make sense.
On a side note I am trying to be nice to you, even though we have different views on things so

4. ITA. IME, two individuals boastfully told me they could, and would, help me get a job |
|
at a local company.
Both of them did exactly jack squat.
"Don't offer it and not do it." Amen!

5. Perhaps there are lower rungs. |

Myself, I'd rather have someone not do something nice than to have someone do something for me and later discover I'm being billed for it.
Hey, let me get that for you! There you go, wasn't that helpful? Here's my bill. Arggh!

8. Yes, I've done it that way befoe, and will probably have to do it that way this time |
|
I have no problem writing it...it's the insincere offer that bugs me. "I'll do it" and it never gets done.
