K&R, what does it mean?

This is a bit silly but will someone enlighten me as to what K & R stands for? I have been reading DU for just under a hundred years so I am not sure how I missed this one, and I was oddly uncurious about it until tis afternoon. So I did a search in the FAQ, and forums, and the googles, and... nothing! :woohoo: So I'm going to ask here.

1. K&R=kick and recommend!

Whenever you want to make a thread more visible, you kick it by posting in it!

And recommend means you click yes to the recommend button underneath the initial post!

No worries.......this is not a lockable offense; in fact it's not an offense at all!

4. To a freeper it means "Kill" and "Reload". n/t

5. In the distant past, people often repromoted threads to the page top by

posting "kick" in the subject line and :kick: in the message body. When DU added the recommend feature, people started recommending threads, but the recommendation didn't promote the thread back to the page top where others could see it and possibly recommend it, so it became common to kick in conjunction with recommending
