Poll question: Look down. How dirty is your keyboard?
Be honest. This is anonymous, but be sure and confess if you feel like it or divulge other people's secrets.

1. Other
I keep my computer room dark so I don't have to see how dirty it is in here, but I'd wager there's coffee stains and junk on the keyboard.

13. I cleaned mine today
and was appalled by the condition it was in upon closer inspection. It was one of those things you don't pay attention to and then when you start looking, eeewww!

9. Once you go black...
Nothing beats high quality black IBM keyboards.

I like to do the "business card between the keys" cleaning job every few months. It always yields a significant amount of cat hair and random crumbs.

7. Spotless!
I have a keyboard skin on mine.

I just removed it and cleaned it and soaked it in clorox solution a couple days ago.

14. Cleaning it now, proles.
I periodically take a nail file and clean all the dust out from between the rows of keys. Other than that, the top gets dusted regularly.

15. Damn
My shit's real dirty. It's a work terminal so many people use it. That's really gross. I should bring in some alcohol pads and wipe it down. Same with the phone.

20. clean as a whistle . . . the first thing I do when I get a new computer .
is order a skin for the keyboard . . . now the skin itself may get pretty ratty, but it's a hell of a lot easier to clean than the keyboard itself . . . which remains pristine two years after its purchase . . .

21. Do you have any recommendations
on skins? The ones I recall using I found quite annoying and interfered with my typing.

24. And what did the keyboard
you replaced look like? Will you have a rule for a time about not eating at the new computer?

BTW, what kind of computer did you get?

29. well....
the old one was in bad shape. It was five years old and the keyboard looked like crap. Yes, there is a no eating rule at the computer right now to keep it nice and clean. I got a Compaq Presario. It's nothing fancy, but much better than the old one. I refused to buy a Dell due to having worked there in the past (what a sh***y place to work) and they also donate to the republicans.

You would never think to see a deleted message on a thread about the cleanliness of keyboards. :silly:

31. mine has crumbs and hair inside it
I have the transparent mac keyboard from the old iMac, when I flip it over I can see all the crumbs and hair inside the case. Unfortunately I can't open it and clean it because it takes a weird square screwdriver.
