Pictures of my Iran trip, part 7 *PIC HEAVY*
All other pictures are to be seen in my Journal.

Sorry that there was a break in between I posted the pictures. But I wasn't sure you still were interested and also work kept me busy.

Another city we visited was Kashan. In Kashan there are some large houses from the 18th and 19th century. The most important and impressive one was/is the house of the Tabatabaei family. Also in Kashan there is the Fin garden, which shows the ideal of a Persian garden. For some reason we weren't too impressed by it, so I don't have any pictures to show from there (didn't upload the ones I have)

The court yard

The women's garden

The women's quarters

The kitchen with my mom and our guide discussing it :)

Looking up from the kitchen

The family rooms

And our driver :)

1. Beautiful!
Here in the states, Iran has been demonized to the point that you would get the impression that there is nothing good or beautiful about the place. Iran is evil plain and simple. Your pictures and words about your trip there have shown us differently.

2. There is always a difference between Government and its people
I learned that long ago.

And as we know latest since last year, the Iranian people aren't too happy with their government either.

8. I don't know much more
we have an actor here in Germany with that name. She was the German voice in the movie "Persepolis" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Persepolis_%28film%29

The rich modern families were destroyed during the Revolution in 1979, some put in prison or they went into exile. It is save to assume the same happened to the Tabatabaei family.

10. So does the family still have any ownership claim to the house?
Did they sell it to someone else, like a historical society? or was it just put under state control?

11. The house was under state control
I doubt the family still has any chance to get it back. Beside, it is way too big for nowadays. You'd need a lot of servants for it.

It is a museum nowadays. There are other houses as well, which they only started recently to renovate.
