The cat's mail: Utah man accused of violating protective order for writing to wife's pet

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- A Utah man is accused of violating a protective order because he allegedly sent letters to his estranged wife's cat.

Authorities say 32-year-old Ronald Charles Dallas, of South Salt Lake, was ordered not to contact his wife, who is the alleged victim in a domestic violence case against him.

Prosecutors allege Dallas mailed 11 letters from jail that were addressed to her cat Molly Judge and a neighbor, but were intended for his wife. They say the letters asked her not to testify against him.

Dallas now faces 11 counts of violation of a protective order and two counts of tampering with a witness.

His court-appointed attorney, Trent Ricks, says he couldn't comment until he speaks to his client.

8. It's kind of confused...
nobody's paying attention to it or playing with it, except when it wants nobody to pay attention to it; then they just won't leave her alone. Generally, as long as someone's cleaning the litter and putting food in the food receptacle and every once in a while they throw some catnip her way so she gets her party on with her bad self she's happy. Also, she's pretty sure the adults in her life are #%$*& crazy. Oh...and she's a princess, a pretty pretty princess and that's why she keeps getting in fights with other cats, they don't bow to her princessness and let her do whatever she wants.

(I've just realized exactly how much the life of a common house-cat mirrors that of Lindsey Lohan. Suddenly, things make so much sense.)
