Mandolin players - I'm thinking of buying one. Where should I buy from? What should I look for? |
|
I'd love me a mandolin - been wanting one for years. and I had the thought the other day that the car is paid off and I have no debt, so maybe it's time to buy me a new instrument.
I've gotten a couple guitars from musiciansfriend.com, which I was happy to do because I knew the guitars and the manufacturers and what they'd be like.
But I don't know from mandolin makers.
Go with a cheapy $300-400 one from musiciansfriend? Or somewhere else?
Sadly, the music stores in the area around here have shit for selection and ludicrous prices. I prefer helping out the local businesses, but holy shit, not when they're twice as much and have employees with shitty attitudes.

just bought a high quality used one at Elderly Instruments at a good price. I bought a beautiful vintage violin there a few years ago. Elderly sells new and used intruments and accessories. Some of their stuff is pricey, but sometimes bargains can be found. Elderly is trustworthy and stands by its merchandise. The URL is www.elderly.com
