Shows that you've never met real fans of but the show have lasted forever
Edited on Sun Mar-28-04 05:48 PM by khephra
I think I've yet to meet a real serious fan of King of the Hill. Oh, some people think it's good filler, and they can name off quotes and such, but I've never met a King of the Hill fan. Yet it amazes me that shows like this keep going for years, still so many others can last half a season.

4. Oh, I get it
I just don't people rushing home to see shows like this, yet others with cult followings fade quickly. No offense to KotH fans, I think a lot of the episodes are great. It's like "Everyone Love Raymond" too. I live in the midwest, still no one I talk to bring the show up other than to shrug about its existence.

3. Oh, my BF's dad is a huge fan...
And it's a spoof of rednecks living in Texas. Hello?! It's from the same guy that did Beavis and Butthead and Daria. It's hilarious. Why is it that some people take these cartoons so freaking seriously? It's meant as a spoof of republican "patriotic" sheep. If you watched it as such, you'd probably laugh, because you probably know people like that! I do!

5. Um, I get it
Edited on Sun Mar-28-04 05:52 PM by khephra
And I've actually seen at least half the episodes. I just wondered why some shows manage to coast through the years without a serious fan base and others, well, they just die even though all the critics and a hell of a lot of people are watching them and starting up a serious fan base to support the shows.

The Daria TV Show was created by other people, but Daria got her start on B&B.

7. I like L&O, but that's another one that sort of fools me
One day no one was watching it and then suddenly everyone had seen every episode. Weird. Now all of these shows I have nothing against...once again, it's more my question of an actual fan community that supports a show. I'd think a smaller, fanatic fanbase would be more profitable over the years than some of these shows that will disappear from syndication after a few years--and everyone will tell you that the real money is in syndication. I don't know...I'm reaching for something and can't quite nail it down.

10. Friends...
I've never met anyone who watches it, let alone is a fan of it. I saw it once about 6 years ago and thought it was extremely boring and pointless, so I never watched it again.

I don't know anyone who watches Survivor and American Idol either. I'll admit that I watched some of the first season of Survivor, but that was only because of that cute little pixie they had on the show.

11. Some of my best friends on this board like all of those shows
and Sienfeld too. Not me. I DO understand their interest in the shows.

I think it's more the "under the radar" mid-ratings shows that never seem to leave that just puzzles me.

12. What about "Saved by the Bell"?
Some of the worst acting ever, and some lame story lines, or so I've been told, but it was on for what seemed like forever. It's still on in syndication and may very well be on forever.

16. I never met a fan of "Hee-Haw" and it was on forever
I think it was the longest running show until it got surpassed in recent years. But of course the fact that I've never met a fan might be because I live in the Northeast, where there probably weren't any fans of "Hee-Haw".

As for KOtH, I love that show, but I don't get a chance to watch it regularly because of its time period.

19. Still Standing
Yes, Dear was the first one that came to mind, but someone else mentioned it already.

I don't know how Still Standing makes it. It's about as mediocre a show as you can get. My only guess is that airing before Raymond helps.

Yes, Dear is the big mystery to me. They get a lot of celebrities, albeit mediocre ones, to appear on the program.

30. I've Never Seen Any Of Them
It amazes me that of all those mentioned above the only one I've ever seen was the old Law and Order. But if you have a dish, as we do out here in the country where cable never has been and never will be, you can watch Law and Order at virtually any time of any day of any week of the year. Its omnipresent, almost like the movie Jaws.

I like it actually. Nothing weird, no special effects, and aside from being entertaining it also wasn't mindless. Yep, now that I think about it I'd watch and old episode of Law and Order most anytime.

32. L&O is weird. The "Meatloaf" or "Meat and Potatoes" of TV.
Few rabid fans who have to watch every episode, but it's always THERE. And if you happen to tune it in while eating dinner or whatever, it's always solid. Decent production values, good story and acting, have to think a little.
