My Grandmother won't let her puppy out in the back yard to potty |
|
because this big ferocious bulldog that lives next door has attacked my aunt and uncle's dogs twice...two different dogs..same attacking dog. The weiner dog had to go through 800.00 of patchwork and the dog owner actually paid it back in payments.
What really sucks is Skosh LOVES to be outside! He jumps around and tears around the yard, plays keep away with you when you try to corral him..he has a blast every rare occasion that he gets to go in the backyard.
Alas, My Grandmother is deathly afraid Skosh will get eaten so he is regulated to puppy pads for the rest of his life. My Grandmother doesn't trust me to walk Skosh because I was drinking, but I may start taking him out a couple of times a week. My Aunt comes by three times a week to walk him.
PS..the back yard is fenced...both times that the bulldog attacked, he wedged himself in between the fence and the lawn and came in our yard.
Isn't that a load of crap?

1. Well, there are other things that could be done. |
|
I've seen this problem solved with wire attached to the bottom of the fence and buried under the ground so there's no way the bulldog can get through. Or put heavy stuff on top of the wire without burying it (this is less secure).
Or another fence on your grandma's side.
Or just a line of bricks or other heavy items along the fence line.
In any case, the puppy is lucky to have so many people who care this much about him!

2. I've seen your adorable Skosh that that truly is crappy... |
|
If these neighbors are aware of the situation, and they certainly would want to avoid another "incident," couldn't you set up some sort of schedule?
Or is there some sort of doggy park, or the like, nearby? It certainly seems a waste of potty training, not to mention the happiness of the dog, to never let him go outside... :(
Where I used to live, I would take my dogs for walks around the block, but then a new family moved into the house on the corner, with two Akitas. My next door neighbor (has a black lab and an invisible fence) warned me that these dogs were not friendly and what could happen if they managed to get out. She was worried and her dog is much bigger than mine. They were fenced, too, but I could see them pacing through the stockade fence. So I had to change my route. :scared:
Best of luck with Skosh (and with your sobriety...) :hi:

3. It sounds like your grandma is right. |
|
It would be a shame if anything happened to him in his own backyard. :(
How old is that attacking dog? It sounds like HE doesn't get walked enough.
