Is anybody else sick of summer?
I hate the heat and this is the hottest summer of my lifetime. (That's saying alot). I decided to try to like summer by taking advantage of the heat. I decided to exercise in the neighborhood pool. After three sessions, my back pain flared up and now I can barely walk. I'm back in my little air-conditioned bedroom, dreaming about autumn.

Is anybody else a summer party pooper?

5. I see that you're in Texas.
I'm in NH. I guess there's no perfect place to live. Sometimes I envy people who can go south for the winter and return in spring, like the birds. I get sick of winter, too, but I never, ever get sick of spring or autumn.

2. My dear zanana1...
I can't say I'm sick of it, because we've hardly had any summer...

Our days have been very overcast and cool till the afternoon, and then the sun comes out only briefly...

I'm sorry you're suffering...

Hope your back recovers soon!

19. The same is true here in Maine
But I get where Zanana is coming from. For me though, it's not the heat; it's more about feeling guilty for not doing all the things I had planned for summer during those long winter months. Swimming and laying out in the sun? Meh, a couple of times. Garden? Only planted a couple of veggies with mixed results. Camping trips to the coast and Canada? Didn't happen. That last 10 pounds I had planned to lose? They're still with me... I could go on and on.

Summer is definitely winding down as it does here in August... and once again, I feel that old familiar let down. I suppose I just tend to set plans and expectations a little too high sometimes.

Oh well... On the up side, they say sunbathing is bad, so I suppose it's just as well that I'm still pasty white. x(

Usually we hit 100+ for a few days in July/August, but not this year. It's been 80's and low 90's since May which is quite manageable.

14. I'm more sick to death of the lack of summer.
Aside from maybe 20 days total out of June July and August, it's been cooler than usual around here. Would be nice if the lack of needing to turn on the A/C actually kept my electric bill lower, but it seems to be just as high anyway. The highest I've ever seen in the summer, in fact.

17. I hate hot, humid weather.
We had the 5th hottest July in history here (PA). Every day is the same, hot, sticky, and partly sunny with a 30% chance of a thunderstorm. Our electric bills have been ridiculous from running the AC 24/7.

It might as well be winter, because I don't go outside in the sun. I just hope this heat and humidity break before school starts later this month. x(

18. I was dreading it's arrival back in the Spring
but after a few 90s degree days, it's been sooooooooo nice ever since (CA). I can hardly believe how nice and temperate it's been. The downside is that the tomatoes aren't happy.

I'm so sorry the rest of the country is suffering so much, I know how awful hot summers can be, but this has to be one of my best summers in a very long time, weather wise.

I hate the bugs and the sweat and the heat. Recently you can add in the deluges of rain. Did I mention the bugs?
Autumn has been much warmer here than it used to be. (iowa). Summer used to be 3 months, now it is 5.
Did I mention how much I hate cutting grass?

25. Northern Illinois here and the mosquitos are making life miserable.
I can't get any work done at all even swathed in bug spray. I'm miserable, the animals are miserable, my gardens are weedy disasters from the rain and the lack of physical attention (the bugs are driving us out!).

And I'm 110% certain you can't possibly hate mowing as much as I do. Typically by August, I'm down to mowing once every 2 - 3 weeks since everything's burnt to a crisp but the high temps, high humidity, and freakish downpours have conspired against me and I'm still mowing like it's spring.

Scary.

We've had a small break for a couple of days with temps in the mid 90's and a little overcast, but back to triple digits starting Monday. Ugh!

We're going to the Oklahoma Aquarium tomorrow for a few hours to get out of the heat.

I don't wish winter any closer but I surely could use a little autumn right now.

Bleah. We've got another 2 months of searing heat and humidity to look forward to.

Although we did get about a week of straight rain in late June or early July -- I think it was related to a tropical storm or depression out in the Gulf. That was pleasant.

I like summer, but I don't favor one season over the others except for fall--here in the northeast, it has a bit of an edge because of the beautiful colors and cool weather. Good thing I live where I do--I'm addicted to the variety!

31. I'm tired of summer by the time it really HITS in Arizona...
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
...though I'll still take it over summers anywhere else I've lived (South,
MidWest, Northeast, Texas, D.C.).
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
There are some very, VERY positive points to summer here.
.
Rainstorms are almost always violent, but over very quickly.
.
Cloud formations (whether or not they result in rain) are incredible.
.
Thunderstorms are literally AWESOME!!!! I've never seen the variety
and intensity of lightning during any storm here whatsoever anywhere
else (though some are awesomer than others).
.
.
.
.
.
.
And, when I used to be able to afford it -- the majority of restaurants
in town (up to and including many of the finest) have absolutely amazing
deals to draw in the trade that disappears with both the heat and the
exodus of our snowbirds.

And have to worry about shovelling the driveway covered in 3 feet of snow approximately 0 months long.
