My friend Paul died last night

He was killed in a motorcycle accident not far from his house here in Manchester.

Paul was a Republican. That alone would cause some people on DU to say that he was a bad person, but nothing could be further from the truth. Paul had as big a heart as anyone I have ever known. He was a good father and uncle, and a great friend. He was a passionate Bruins fan who understood that Bobby Orr is the second greatest person ever to walk the face of the earth. He looked like Hagrid after a three-day bender, but underneath that scruffy beard, there was always a smile.

Damn it, Paul. We're going to miss you, buddy.

Lost one of my best buds 7 years ago in a similar fashion and will miss him as long as I live, but as time has passed, I think of funny things he did or said (and he was a pretty funny guy) and they always bring a smile to my face. May the same happen with you and Paul's memory some day.

As someone once told me - there are two types of motorcycle riders those that have had accidents and those that will.
My SIL lost an uncle a few years back. No helmet, hopped on the cycle to go to the store ( a few blocks) for some smokes. Hit a stone, lost control, hit his head...
