Drat! Another Feral Kitty MIA
Pretty male yellow tabby, not neutered, of course. Looks to be between 1-2 years old. He has a huge abscess on his front left leg, and something going on with one of his eyes. I set a trap, but he didn't go for it.

What the hell is wrong with people who don't take care of their pets? I cannot even begin to calculate how much I have spent having strays vaccinated, spayed, neutered, etc.

Anyway, this latest vagabond hasn't showed up for 3 days now. Last time he was here, he was having trouble walking, and didn't feel much like eating.

I have a cage ready, in case I (and he) gets lucky. Here's hoping he comes back, and I am successful in capturing him.

Wish me luck. :hi:

1. that's a shame
I know how that is. Thanks for what you do, good luck trying to rescue him or another unfortunate soul. at least he had some good nourishment from a caring person, and the poor fella now has someone to miss him.

2. Good luck! I hope he comes back...

Will your vet give you a few doses of Clavimox in tablet form? Where I used to live, there were several strays around and the males inevitably got injured through fights. My vet would sell me a few 7-day courses of antibiotics (14 tablets in each course); I'd grind up two pills every day and put it in the moist food I'd feed the cats -- they were usually so hungry they'd eat the whole can and lick up the broth so they'd get a full dose every day they stopped by ... and I could usually clear up bad infections that way, or at least give the guys a fighting chance.

I hope your fella comes back. Thanks for helping all the cats you can.

5. It's so sad. But with the current economic situation, so many people
don't have the resources to take care of themselves, and the poor animals are the first to go.
If only they could be more responsible. But it isn't the case.
Good luck.

6. Neighbors just told me the local stray had kittens in their garage.
They've named the four kitties "Kung Pao", "Mooshu", "Chow Mein" and "Wonton". I believe that this is a problem that will take care of itself.

7. I (do my best) to take care of the ferals here
the grey guy of the pair Tom and Jerry, Tom, is MIA for three days now. Jerry lies outside on the grass so he can see in my window and waits for when I feed everyone. The other 8 I am directly taking care of (including feeding and putting Frontline on when they come up to me) always have something wrong.

Good luck.

9. Ah, best of luck to you and him
I have all kinds of respect for those who work with the ferals. I've trapped and brought one into my home with the help of the local feral rescue community and one day when I have the time and resources I'll work with the group. TNR is a great program, and I support Alley Cat Allies completely in that, they get a donation every month from me. I see it as a completely realistic and humane solution to overpopulation of cats in this country.

Hope your vagabond shows and that he gets the medical care that he needs, whether he wants it or not. And kudos to you for the caring you've given to the kittehs!! :yourock:
