So I'm getting married tomorrow and my car breaks down
Well of course! How stupid of me not to have seen THAT one coming.

Thank god Lover Boy is a good mechanic. He's out there right now. Something about throttle body and IACV, whatever the fuck that does.

I'm stressed.

OK, I lie. I'm on the verge of totally freaked out.

I was SUPPOSED to be driving off on my own to get a little something-something to put a smile on his face (clown make-up...SURPRISE!).

He's supposed to be driving out to meet his buddies for his bachelor's party. Instead his hands are covered in black crap.

He asked me if I wanted a guy that made an OK living who had to know how to fix his own cars or would I prefer a well-off man who could pay to have his car fixed.

How do you NOT throw your arms around his neck and kiss him?

At least dinner for tomorrow is pretty much set. Future MIL bought me this beautiful spaghetti strap sun dress yesterday. It has this gorgeous polynesian pattern with maroon, turquoise, dark yellow and black. I figured she wanted a white wedding dress...good to see she's not THAT naive. Turns out she was once something of a free spirited girl herself and she never went for the fancy church wedding thing either. She was married on Myrtle Beach it seems.

I like the ol' girl.

Daddy stepped up with a friend to do smoking/BBQ. I've tasted his handiwork before and he's good. Chicken, squab and brisket tomorrow.

Still, I'm reaching the stressed/jittery/panicked phase.

Talk me through it.

PLEASE!!!

UPDATE - holy crap...he's done and heading for the shower.

"If you think that's over fast wait until our wedding night."

Me - "I love you too, asshole!"

7. Oh no you didn't just insult the love of my life the day before I marry him
You know, if your "goddess" can't see much further than party affiliation she speaks poorly for the omniscience of deity.

I would be outraged if my MIL suggested my car breaking down was Jesus telling her son not to marry a liberal hippie chick.

But it seems what you're telling me is your goddess goes around breaking stuff (and not very well) while the sons of Christians go around fixing them (very well).

Un-freaking-believable.

But you don't matter. There are plenty of awesome people in this thread and I am grateful for them.

And I'm grateful for my soon-to-be REPUKE husband.

Have a nice life. I plan on having a better one without all the petty animosities.

8. She didn't do that great of a job with my Mom, either

somehow that actually seems to be working out for them.

I just hate to see the already shallow pool of available progressive women evaporating into a tiny puddle. :(

17. Well, why didn't you tell us that in the first place?
Bottom line: Another progressive lady goes off the board. :( On the same day that Stephanie came out. :( :(

13. I married a conservative (religious and political.) It can be tough at times but I would
never trade him in.

3. I'll pass on throwng my arms around him and kissing him, but you go right ahead
and I'm sorry someone said something negative about marrying a "repuke" even if it was said in jest (?). Not the time to rain on your parade. You love him; he loves you; what else could you ask for, and I'm happy for both of you. Glad the framistan and the whatchamacallit are fixed too.
P.S. that's cool that you're marrying Lover Boy

4. Remember to breathe deep.
I hope it all goes well.

If something goes wrong, don't worry. There is an old saying. "If you see something go wrong, it means nothing else can go wrong. Everything else will be perfect."

If you can, assign someone to take care of any weird stuff that happens and then trust them to take care of whatever happens so that you don't have to. It'll make your day much easier.

Did I say, Remember to breathe?

Please enjoy yourself. Have fun!

I hope we get to see pictures. :)

Congratulations!

5. May you bring each other joy always.
May you in 50 years still be that old couple "holding hands."

And may you never forget that you almost threw the love of your life to the curb.

15. ah, you will be fine! Reality keeps chugging along no matter what happens!
We had so many little disasters at our wedding (catering issues, minister forgot and was late, it rained), and it still turned out to be a great day!

Wish you well! :toast:
