Okay, okay, you did good, but what is this?

and since this red thingy was easier to use than the yellow thingy below, why on earth did anyone use the yellow one?

what was the advantage?

25. not really that hard (but granted, 'harder'), especially if you weren't adverse to placing
the 45 on a table and just pushing it in.

7. Maybe?
So you could play a stack of them on the turntable, if you didn't have the auto-changer adapter for 45's just the thin LP spindle.

16. Bingo! We have a correct answer!
Edited on Sun Aug-15-10 09:20 PM by hippywife
The first one fits the turntable and only allows you to play one record at a time. The other fit inside the hole on the record and one of them inserted in each record allowed stacks to be mounted atop the spindle and played one after the other automatically.

:hi:

8. The yellow one was probably cheaper to make
The red one is solid plastic. The yellow one is thinner and has open spaces, which means it used less plastic.

9. The yellow one, because of its shape
pushed back slightly against the edges of the record, holding it and making it fit more firmly so it stayed put. It wouldn't lose its grip or fall out.

The red disk would spin independently inside the record, so the record wouldn't play.

10. My red thing was black and it came with the turn table
If you lost the red/black thingy then you had to buy a little packet of the yellow thingy's so the 45 would play properly.

12. The red one sits on top of the turntable, over the spindle,..
...and you can stack a few records on top of each other, while the yellow one fits inside the big hole of an individual 45, so you need one yellow one for each record you want to play, or you gotta remove and place it into each 45 every time you play a different record.

18. I seem to recall
an adapter that was about the size of a toilet paper tube that allowed stacks to play, too. Had the little 7-shaped thingy that sort of looked like the release on an umbrella...

19. The yellow one made a cool mini-frisbee
Those things spun much better off of the turntable than on it.

flexible yet cheap to 'worry.'

26. Advantage: no extra work. You put it in a 45 and then just treated it like a 33.
With the adapter, you had to line it up and they sucked when used for multiple record drop-play. We had a player with an adapter that was like 3" tall (as was the LP post). That one worked fine for drop-play.
