What's the best final line from any movie? |
|
A poll is almost inevitable, given any traction at all. I go with, "All right, Mr. DeMille, I'm ready for my close-up." And you?

I'm trying to think of the last line to 2001, though it's nowhere near the end of the movie. That alone is kind of unique :)

41. That sounds about right. |
|
Plus, the last words are voiced over another scene, or perhaps Dave's face as he watches.
Still, it's what, about 20 minutes before the actual end of the movie? How often does that happen? :D

...I came here to give you these facts. It is no concern of ours how you run your own planet, but if you threaten to extend your violence, this Earth of yours will be reduced to a burned-out cinder. Your choice is simple: join us and live in peace, or pursue your present course and face obliteration. We shall be waiting for your answer. The decision rests with you."
From the end of the original "The Day the Earth Stood Still" which is still one of my favorite movies of all-time. I had to look up the quote because I couldn't remember the entire thing off the top of my head.

My story starts at sea... a perilous voyage to an unknown land... a shipwreck... the wild waters roar and heave... the brave vessel is dashed all to pieces, and all the helpless souls within her drowned... all save one... a lady... whose soul is greater than the ocean... and her spirit stronger than the sea's embrace... not for her a watery end, but a new life beginning on a stranger shore. It will be a love story... for she will be my heroine for all time. And her name will be Viola.

But Doolittle and the one that was always in the observation dome end up still being alive in the end. Doolittle surfs to his death in the atmosphere while the other one ends up taken by some alien energy beings if I remember correctly. Something about the Pleiades?

|
On the south side of the airport, on the FedEx ramp, is a small, rather ornate, mission style cupula atop a small hanger. That is the original terminal building for Los Angeles field, and is the place where they shot the closing scene of Casablanca. You know, where Humphrey Bogart says that nobody gives a rat's ass about our little problems, etc., etc.
Good little piece of trivia.

Thinking it is best actions, not just a fight for anything.
And requires bravery.
And requires willing to put yourself on the line, even if it could be hard or worse.
How many of them have faced hardships?
How many of them are anything like the people at the Alamo?
