Are you and your DU persona, one and the same?

I've met quite a few DUers - and spoken to many more on the phone. So far, everyone who's met me in person, has said that I'm just the same in person, as I am online. Of the DUers I've met in person (about 12 of them), most of them were just as I thought they would be. There was one, however, who is much more of a teddybear than I could have ever imagined. As for the DUers I talk to on the phone, their phone personalities are pretty much identical to how they are online - although one of them has surprised me quite a bit. In a good way. :)

So, are you Sybil? Or same old, same old?

1. I curse a lot more in person...

at least around those who know me. I try not to do it much here..don't want to offend anyone. I'm kind of a smart ass too...not in a bad way though. Other than that I'm pretty much the same.

I was a die-hard Eagles fan, until they tossed Dawkins and hired the dog-killer. And then, to add insult to injury, they throw Westbrook and Donovan away - but still keep the dog-killer.

Having said that, I will never be a Dallas fan. I kinda follow the Ravens now, since their QB is from my hometown. :)

In person, I am funnier. Really. On the internet, I am far more serious. I pretty much have to be interested to some degree in the conversation to be motivated to post in the first place, and then I start typing and deep thoughts come out. Talking involves much less time and energy as typing, and is therefore activity which reflects a different aspect of my personality than posting.

I'm the same guy, but online you only can see the one side of me which I present. In person or over the phone, each of us communicates more fully. This can be by tone of voice or body language; you can sense more about a person when he or she is physically there. This is what makes sense to me; I find it interesting that this makes me unusual.

I've been lucky in that, with most of the DUers I've met, they've gotten drunk at my house. All inhibitions come down - everybody relaxes. We can sit around, discussing politics and such, with no raised voices, no animosity. I've had a lot of fun getting to know these people. :)

I am those things, but with careful editing etc, my usual scatterbrained meanderings that I do so much of IRL get edited and cleaned up and (somewhat ) organized here.
