3. Yeah - all Democrats...sober up and run like hell for the border. |

Lifting lady-there is usually an AA listing in the local phone book. Call them and gettheir address, pick up a few meeting schedules and look around for some - even one- that fits you. I used to get a stack of schedules and give them out to people I met at these meetings who looked more dazed than I felt... There is a lot of BS in AA meetings these days, but there are still some very good ones around, and you can't know which is best for you till you try them...I found some of the best help in the worst meetings...it gave me a good example of bad behavior if nothing else, and I also found I never knew what I needed to hear till I heard it and it registered...
The old timers used to tell me, "Don't drink, don't think, and go to meetings." I used to think they were all full of shit, but it has been working for over 22 years now...
Alll the best.

4. I couldnt tell you the politics of 95% of the people I know in AA. |
|
I do live in a blue state & town, but politics is just not something I get into in AA or with people in AA. Certainly not in meetings. And there have been numerous good friends through the years who I did know were conservative, but we just never discussed it. It's kind of been like not caring about the politics of somebody who just threw me a life preserver. Whatever you do, and I earnestly hope you get help if you need it, please don't let politics deter you one way or the other.

i live in red. they accept all. and a lot, if not most are not politically inclined. it is a welcoming environment. it is a good place to be, if you are ready. do it.....
if you think you need.
i have never been a boozer because i have a line in my family that are the hard core alcoholics that die from the stuff. it has made me stay clear. and whenever i drink, i ALWAYS get too tipsy. but, at a time in my life, i was around a group of people that used AA and i was impressed with what they did, what i saw, the support, the bonding.
they know.... afraid. they are good with.... afraid.
