The new "Rolling Stone" cover blurs the line between "art" and "just fucking disgusting."
N.S.F.W. ("not safe for work") full-size version here: http://www.thesuperficial.com/enlargedimage/?postid=486862&parent=486861

I'm a subscriber...when this issue arrives, that cover's coming off before I bring it in the house.

1. Art is all subjective
As a fan of the show the pictures makes sense to me and is disturbingly appropriate. Trueblood is a show full of "WTF moments" as my son likes to say. If I had younger children at home I would take the cover off too.

3. It's been done before.
That gore schtick was done 25 years ago by the psychobilly scene. It was shocking then, now...as the kids say...meh.

I wouldn't call it disgusting. It looks like chocolate syrup.

7. How about the line between art and just plain dumb?
Nudity for shock value in order to appear relevant and edgy -

that's so 20th Century!

8. If you watch TB, it makes sense
The show IS bloody, gory even in places.

The major themes are sex, death and religion and politics.

Despite that, if I had small ones at home, I'd not let them see it. The wouldn't be reading RS to start with. It would be a mommy supernova book.

9. Looks like Karo syrup.
I suppose there is a suggestion of gore, but it's in such a fantastic (meant literally) setting that it doesn't bother me.

10. Are you talking this cover? I've seen alot worse and I think it's a very appropriate cover!

If you don't watch True Blood then it won't make sense. I mean it's not like this is the first time almost naked people have been shown on the cover of Rolling Stone. Anna Paquin plays a very independant woman who is not afraid to stand up for herself in the show. And btw that's her real-life fiance grabbing her breasts.

Was it any less offensive than this cover on EW:

Or this cover:

Or this:

(btw that's paint on Demi).

If you watch the show you'd understand that blood is a very central part of True Blood.

I can't wait to get that issue of the magazine!

14. The Aniston cover hit me like a ball peen hammer to the temple the first time I saw it
I acknowledge the fact that some might see it as "offensive," but I just saw it. And went unconscious for a few minutes.

22. It was like a harmonic convergence of 100,000 snuggly newborn kittens or puppies
It was like that scene at the end of "Total Recall" where the dome cracked and the citizens of Mars took in the first precious breaths of fresh air.

It was like 100,000 fresh-baked apple pies cooling on windowsills all across America...yes, I said America, dammit.

If an ass could launch a thousand ships, that would be the ass that could do it.

I am either the most jaded person or maybe the most twisted. The cover is just sort of meh for me.

I see 3 good looking young people with some chocolate syrup dripping on them.

whats the big deal?
