Today I had to deal with getting my Mother's death certificates, you need many copies. |
|

Holding a copy of my mother's death certificate really marks the end of the whole cycle.
Just a little bit more paper work left.
She didn't have anything left, everything went toward the home where she stayed for almost 5 years.
The place was expensive but really good.
I will be getting a marker of some kind for the tree I planted for my Mother.
Tomorrow back to work, back to regular life.
I did enjoy the days in country, needed that.
Here is a toast to all Mothers and Fathers who have passed, hope y'all are having a great time.

Your package game, thanks so much for the great socks.
I really do like the socks.
It has been a little over 5 years since I have been dealing with my Mother, and now it is over.
I didn't realize the stress level until now, it got bad sometimes.
My Father is doing a lot better and having a good time at his home.
So everything is good.

Dealing with the ashes really helped.
I consider you my friend also, you welcomed me the Lounge with the Nighthawks thread.
I will relax for the next month or so and then there is early voting.
We will get us a new governor, Governor Bill White.
Goodbye Gov. Goodhair.

6. My father has that covered also but not with Mother. |

This is the part no one thinks about, after the funeral.
There is no life insurance or other things to worry about.
I got many copies anyway.

7. Yer darn tootin ya need a bunch of copies.... |

I got 10, used them all. And then, a few months ago, nearly 3 years after her death, I needed another one. The week she died in the nursing home, her "personal property" statement was mailed. She had no PP, but the county assumes even then ya got something. So, long story short, the original PP statement never found us, and I got a summons in May that if she didn't pay up she could go to jail. Right, ashes to wind, etc. So I took death certificate and a check for $80 to county treasurer and bailed her out.
What is amazing is that the summons was the first contact we'd had. I had settled her estate in 60 days, distributed her assets. All was well till I found out she was on the lam! "Don't put my momma in jail!" I said when I walked into the courthouse office. Actually had some fun with them.

10. Would have had to drive to rural Montgomery County Kansas and searched for her ashes. |
|
It was all so silly, I just had to laugh. The workers were afraid I was going to go off on them, which it seems, is what usually happens when this sort of thing happens.

We're going through the same things. We're picking out a headstone this week, deciding on the inscription.
It's never easy. It's 2.5 weeks since my mother in law passed away...
take care of you.

I want to have marker of some kind by the pecan tree I planted.
The tree is my mother's headstone, she liked pecans.

The American way.
As though it makes all the more sense if it's all in ink and such.

I think you've dealt with your Mom's passing the way I hope to deal with my Mom's imminent passing - with grace, passion, and COMpassion. Peace.

16. So sorry. I lost my mom nine years ago and still miss her |

every day. It is a process dealing with it. As to the death certificates, I didn't need as many as I thought, and she was still living at home at the time. When I called to change utilities, and they said they needed a death certificate, I just told them that they could keep billing her then---and lots of luck collecting. Most of the time, it was bluff---just part of a ritual that they went through.
