I have had an epic craptastic day
I woke up with a migraine, then sprained a calf muscle stretching. I also have cramps. It was 108 today, and the power went out in my neighborhood (due to a "heat storm," according to PG&E) and I got to carry the groceries up the stairs (elevator out - no power) on my bad leg and seriously crippled shoulder joints. And it's 108. Power still isn't on by 10, so now I'm at a hotel. The nicest bestest hotel ever, because it has WiFi, AC and lights.

108 is no joke.

6. I'm a heat wimp, too
I was brave until the power went out. Then I just became resigned. And whiney.

7. I'm a wind wimp.
I can handle heat, cold, rain, snow but sharp, icy winds? Forget it.

13. I'm so glad you found a room and some AC
It was 106 for a day in our hometown last year. We took the dog and cats to the vet's office where it was air-conditioned, and spent the day at the local movie theater.

I hope the weather cools off sooner than later, and you got a good night's sleep!

14. Thanks!
It's in the 90s today, and will be in the 70s tomorrow. The cats were fine - we live in a coastal area and it does cool off at night, but I'm a CPAP user and my husband couldn't stand just being on a 3G connection in the dark. We left the cats some damp towels, and now that the electricity is back on, they're in front of fans (they're Maine Coons and weird).

You stay cool too!

And they're still telling us the outdoor sauna will be closing overnight. :bounce:

27. That was yesterday. You're right - today is less horrible
Mostly yesterday was the migraine, spraining my leg by doing almost nothing, cramps, high heat, no power (which meant no elevator; not great carrying heavy shit with a sprained leg and two destroyed shoulder joints) and mild heat sickness. Today is better - no migraine and the power's back on!

5. Thank you!
I'm a hose head (CPAP user), so yeah, it was either this or wait. My husband was in no mood to wait.

11. Yeah, I know I shouldn't complain - we're only getting three days
Back home they're having months of it - one reason I moved here was to avoid July and August. But the heat + everything else = pity-party, table for one!

I hope your temps stay out of the surface of the sun range.

it HAS been pretty Autumn-like around here this past week

18. Thanks be, we don't get snow here
That would cause SO MUCH whining from me! I don't do cold, either! Below 40 causes a lot of unpleasantness from me! Plus I grow orchids outside, so it's not just me I'm thinking of (yeah right).

Is he doing OK?

(Yeah, I feel sorry for you, too, but he's my kitty and I have to be worried about him.)

(Seriously, I'm glad you made the choice to go to a hotel. Protect your health at all costs.)

16. You mean Stewart? MY Stewart?

He's his big ol' weird self. As long as John was here to comb him this morning, all's well with him!

I think I might have annoyed my kidneys (heat has always made me sick, and kidney disease doesn't help this) but I have power again, so yay!!

It's really not good for me (and not just because I'm a whiny wuss, but that's A reason), but the power did come back on and it's supposed to be in the 70s tomorrow. If I can keep my cooler-growing orchids from bursting into flames, I'll be happy.

20. Not quite sure if its a medical problem or not, but I just can't tolerate heat
even when spring hits, and temperatures go into the 70s I feel it...when it goes to 80 or 90 I just feel fucking nasty...sweat pouring off me, into my fucking eyes, feeling like I need a shower etc....

It's almost over, so don't worry! I throw Coming of Fall parties here!! :toast:

21. Oddly enough, September is usually hot as hell here in the Bay
I hope we continue with our freakishly cool (even for the area) temps for September.

As for your heat thing - sounds like you're just a sensible human being to me! You'd love it here ... well, except for May and September, when "surface of the sun" is the expected temp. But no snow!

Happy Almost Autumn! I <3 October!

Do you mean SF Bay Area?

I know September is still muggy and warm here in PA, but you know when October hits ( end of the Ren-fair ) and you need a jacket and places start selling pumpkin pies it is truly Fall ;)

23. Duh, aren't you psychic?
I'm so used to posting at an orchid forum where my location is listed on my posts ... I'm going to blame the heat and me being an idiot. Yup, I'm in Silicon Valley, where we were having an unusually cool summer and then 101, 108 and today, 98. Sunday it was 72!

There's an awesome art and wine fair in the town I live in each September - really great local artists of all kinds, tons of wine, great food, live music and it's usually hot enough to melt your shoes to the pavement. How great is it? I go every year, and I'm literally allergic to sunlight! Which sounds like a joke, and reminds me of a line in a story about someone so fragile she was killed by a falling leaf. Or the Simpsons's joke about the moth that maybe God wanted to die out.

29. A hundred and eight fucking degrees? Jaysus! I'm heat-intolerant because of
having MS, so even eighty is in the suffering zone for me. But a hundred and goddamn-eight? ARRGH!

You have every right to complain.

31. Kidney failure here; makes it difficult to regulate body temp
Additionally, I am literally allergic to sunlight. Yeah, I know - even I think it's funny. But the power is back on and it's only 98!
