Is the Beck rally really any different from the "ground zero mosque"?
Glen Beck is a loony, privileged, racist schmuck who wants to have a rally on the anniversary of the "I have a dream" speech. I'm sure there are many, including MLK's son, who find this tasteless, provoking, and even insulting.

These same loony, privileged, racist schmucks who want to go to this rally, do not want to have the community center put anywhere near "hollowed ground".

Now, IMO, perhaps it is not such a good idea to put the center there. I have my opinions on religion, but, the bottom line is, if they want to put it there, it should be their right.

Also, it is not a good idea to have the rally in DC on that day. That day, that place, is hollowed ground to many African-Americans, and Americans in general. Our favorite schmucks should not be surprised with any counter protests, or negative response.

I don't think those building the community center had ill intentions about the location, but I do think Beck's motive was to provoke in having his rally on the anniversary of the MLK speech.

2. Beck is doing this to get a reaction and more publicity for himself...
If he steps in shit, let him step in it. I hope they show up and make super asses of themselves on TV. Beck is an asshole, and I believe some of the dumbasses who follow them-even those dumbest dumbasses-are starting to see through him. This may help some of them see a little clearer.

4. Weren't you all paying ATTENTION to the good things that Dr. Laura had to offer...
.
.
.
.
.
...she pointed out (ahem) "right"fully so... that now that we have
an African-American President, she had hoped that that would put
all this, um... outdated, tired talk about racism in America to
rest -- that it was all behind us. I wonder if she'll speak at that
rally... to let America know that, now that racism is dead, it's "OK"
to call a spade a n***** n***** n***** n***** n***** n*****
n***** n***** n***** n***** n*****.
.
.
.
.
.
I think one of the nauseating things we are going to hear again and
again and again from that rally o' ignantz -- is that "White" America
voted in a "Black" President.
.
.
.
.
.
Sorry.
.
.
.
.
.
Not Beck's White America. Nor "Schlessinger's. They actively FOUGHT it
for all sorts of reasons, not the least of which for so many was the
color of his skin.

5. Yeah, and EVERYONE can hear it and a lot of people won't like it.
Beck plays to the audience who already thinks like he does - he just tells them what they want to hear.

I believe he will make a lot of people sick.

6. I HOPE it makes a lot of people sick.

Call me "Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm", but I think most people, while they
don't always get it right... want to.
.
.
.
In more cynical moods, I drop the "most" -- but STILL think "many".

While he's preaching to the choir, I'm hoping that it shows many, many,
MANY other people just how far it is that we still actually have to go
to achieve the ideals that we espouse and cherish and want to live by.
