9. Hi, MissHoneychurch!!! |
|
. :hi: . . I had my first taste (hell, my first 1,000 tastes) of real German beer my first night in Frankfurt. . . . To paraphrase Chrissy Hind of The Pretenders, "When German beer walks in the room, everybody stands up -- aw, it's good-good-good... like Brigitte Beerdot." . . . That first taste was SO good and SO fun that it motivated me NOT to drink any more of it for months -- not until I was settled in-country and much more comfortable with being away from home. . . . . . . Then... I had a lot of neglected beer to make up for. . . .

13. This was long, LONG ago during the 1970's... |
|
. . . . . ...when I was stationed in Nurnberg at Merrell Barracks. . . . . Almost 3-1/2 years there and I miss it very much. . . . . You just inspired me to look for (and find) a recipe for zigeunerschnitzel. I only had it once in a very small village gasthaus, but it may be the best thing I ever had there (LOVE sauerbraten, though). . . . Seems pretty simple. I think I'm going to let my tastebuds stroll down Memory Lane soon. . . . . My first beer? No idea. I DO know that I passed out on a couch in the social center and when I woke up, I had to go-go-go to the bathroom, but someone had tied my boots to a floor-model ashtray and I had to take them off and run across a gravel parking lotin my stocking feet. JUST in time. . . . . Part of what convinced me to ease into the beer waters slowly rather than diving in headfirst again. . . . . I remember liking Humbser... and weissebier, but no more than 1 or 2 of those at a time -- too sweet, maybe. . . . . Tucher was the big Nurnberg beer and it was HORRIBLE. . . .

the sauce is the easiest part of the Schnitzel. To make a perfect Schnitzel is the hard part.

I've been sitting in a motel for the last three days here in the Los Angeles area, so nothing new here. Hopefully I'll get going today. I need to get back to the house and take care of a few things. It is nice here, though. Have you ever been here?

No, I've never been to the West Coast so far. Neither to the Middle West. Just to the East Coast and South.
How do you enjoy being back on the road?

I really needed a good kick in the pants, and being out on the road has done that for me. I'm one of those people who needs a change in his life every once in a while and being a long haul trucker means a lot of adventure. It's a good place to be for a single guy.

20. I know what you mean with the changes in life |
|
Even though I enjoy living in Frankfurt. I live here 8 years now and the time sure passed by fast. But every now and then I am dreaming about leaving everything behind me and start anew. But that takes a lot of energy and courage.
I saw your post about the woman you are looking for. I wish you the best of luck to find a lady who shares your dream with you.

I was kind of joking around when I wrote that post, but I got to thinking about it and it's pretty close to the kind of woman I need. :)
Basically, I'd need a female trucker or someone who doesn't have much of a life at home.

The only problem would be the 24/7 thingy. You'd really need to find a lady you are very comfy with.
