FAIRFAX, Va. - Fairfax County Police are investigating a car accident that killed a 9-year-old girl Monday.

Rebecca Johns of Alexandria was riding her bike with two friends when she was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Franconia Road and Cannon Lane in the Franconia section of Fairfax County. The other two children were not injured.

The girl who was struck was taken to Inova Fairfax hospital where she later died.

The vehicle that struck the girl stayed on scene. The driver, an 80-year-old man, has not been charged. Police do not believe speed or alcohol contributed to the crash.

The investigation is ongoing.

2. I did not hear about this
didn't watch the local news tonight. How tragic. These types of stories are so sad, and all too common.

Bless her heart, and peace to her family.

3. That is so sad. vibes to her family. I worry so much about older drivers. Thankfully I got licenses
away from my parents when the time came to do it. By talking about it with family it seemed to work out. But it was hard on them.

4. When I was a kid, one of my friends was a victim of a hit-and-run.
It was very sad...I was completely in shock for a couple days at least...when they caught up with the woman who had killed him, I felt such rage and hate...

it was in 4th grade.

...

Poor child.
