On TV and in movies, for decades, woman slaps man, about 99% of the time,

man doesn't slap her back.

I'm not saying whether he'd be justified in doing so or not; each situation is different.

Just saying this is another example of how TV/movies are unrealistic, and you certainly can't go by what you see in them. (like you didn't know that.)

1. hands are not for hitting
I don't understand anyone who reacts violently toward the people they supposedly "love". I also don't understand why it has to be glorified on TV/movies...doesn't it seem like most of the slaps you see on shows actually instigate sex? Talk about unrealistic.

3. "slaps...instigate sex" -- how I loathe that.
It's bad enough that there's so much slapping. I've been mad enough to slap someone but as an adult I know better. As for slapping as prelude to sex, when I'm THAT mad at someone that would be the LAST thing on my mind.

7. Not in the movie "The Killer Inside Me"
well, actually they do, but the men hit back - hard - a warning for the squeamish who might have been thinking about seeing that movie. I thought it was a great film, but there is some serious violence against women that many will find hard to watch.

13. In real life, for millennia, man strikes woman, about 99% of the time,
So much for gender equality.

12. One of the most ridiculous scenes from Battle Star Galactica
Edited on Wed Sep-01-10 06:54 PM by Xipe Totec
Gaius Baltar outs Kara Thrace as an honest to goodness Angel, brought back to life.

What does she do? She goes over and slaps him to shut him up.

Mind you this is a woman who has been in a boxing ring and KO'd a couple of hotshot pilots, and went round for round on the boxing ring with her commander, Lee Adama.

And then... she slaps Gaius? Are you fraking serious?

I think that even in the funny papers, Dagwood would get beaned by his wife Blondie.

16. Justified?
A man is never justified in committing a violent act against a woman unless he's in fear for his safety.

A slap does not fear make.

17. I saw the LOST episode today where Flocke
TOTALLY smacks Claire upside the head.

It was shocking because it's just not something you see every day.

Which is as it should be.
