They don't get viewers by saying "Every other time we cut taxes it failed to stimulate the economy so there's no reason to think it will do a damn thing but drive up the deficit this time, and here's some economic theories to explain why this is so obviously true." They get viewers by saying "Democrats don't want to give you your money, but those nice Republicans do. Aren't Democrats meanies?"
