My mom says my dad is colorblind but my dad denies it
Edited on Sat Sep-04-10 06:40 PM by DrSteveB
My dad is 65. About 10 years ago my mom told me that my dad cannot see color because when my dad is going out he asks her to please give him the "red" or "yellow" or whatever shirt, when that's not the shirt's color. So apparently my father thinks he knows what red is or what yellow is. He grew up in a very rural area in the Dominican Republic where people rarely went to a doctor let alone have a vision test; so perhaps that's why he wasn't diagnosed with the condition there. She told me not to tell him that he's colorblind because he feels sad or angry. So I've never mentioned it to him. He was a teacher for 20 yeasr though, teaching History, Geography, english, french, etc.

1. my husband is - he can't distinguish green from red well
funny, since he was an art student when I first met him! The only thing that it affected was that he couldn't have become a pilot...

It's a simple test, isn't it? It's just something people are born with.

2. If you're curious, have him take the test.

If he sees a number easily, he's colorblind.

8. I dislike your test image

Ive been tested for colorblindness many times, as several relatives are colorblind. I am NOT colorblind, as verified by several Drs and just about any online test you care to give me.

However, on your thingie, I was able to distinguish the #5 within about 3 seconds. My wife could not see the number, even after being shown. Which really freaked the hell out of me. Cause my dad is colorblind, and his mother was as well. I can still see all the numbers in all the tests that I am supposed to be able to see if I am not colorblind, which is the only thing keeping me from wanting to find you and punch you in the arm.

I think this ones a bit better.

Anyway. Way to scare the crap outa me.

3. I like that test. I think after a while I saw a number. Is it 5? I think.
Steve. Dad is in denial. Which is not a river.

4. Reminds me of my sister's husband. He insisted we were
screwing with him when he was talking about his favorite purple shirt---and he didn't have a purple shirt. We made him show us the shirt and it was pink pink. He would not believe us, but didn't wear the shirt even again. (Does that mean he really did believe us or was just not sure anymore?)

This is a common thing and nothing that he should be ashamed of---but mom is smart to just "help" him and keep her mouth shut.

7. Back in the day when landlines ruled the world,
I knew a telephone man who was color blind. He had compensated, somehow, for not being able to tell the difference between the green and red wires. I was impressed.
