I've spent years liking and admiring you.

But I can't figure out what the "Buddy List" feature actually does?

1. it's a handy way to keep track of suspected trolls

too bad it doesn't have a little note keeping function or a check-off box for categories like climate change denier, racist fuck, freeping troll, or general dumbass

2. But it doesn't hilight the posts or anything

I know several people use it in the way you suggest. I just have no idea how it really does anything.

The ignore list is self-explanatory; you add someone, and their posts all appear as "ignored." If I add you to my "buddy list," then shouldn't your posts have little stars, or turn magenta, or flash, or do something?

3. I have never figured out the real function, either

I suppose if you put your "real" friends on there, it makes it a little easier to send a PM to them instead of searching for a post by them so you can use the message icon...????

4. It would be nice if there were a way to make a notation

on why a poster is on your buddy list.

For some of mine, it is obvious (like UTUSN, my DU crush), but with others, I have forgotten. However, they are welcome to stay there until the piss me off.

say you wanted to send me a message out of the blue - not respond to a post of mine, but just send me a message, like, "I LOVE YOU AND ADORE YOU SKITTLES MY LOVE", or complain to me that I have not threatened to KICK YOUR ASS lately - you'd have to look me up, try to remember how to spell SKITTLES, do a search, etc. With the buddy list, which you put me on because you LOVE AND ADORE me pay me to have your ass kicked, you can just find me on that list and send me a message. PRESTO!! YEE HAW.
