People can be such f**king jerks sometimes. |
|
Was at a dinner this evening with one of my employees. She is overweight.
People were downright rude. Snickering and staring at her. I've never wanted to walk around and start tossing tables more than I did tonight. She is not even that overweight.
I would like for some of these ass holes to spend one day in her shoes, and work as hard as she does. She has been struggling with her weight for a while now, and she busts her ass for hours to lose just one pound.
F**k those f**king f**kers.
Maybe they were snickering at me? Haha... Look at the skinny guy with the big crooked nose and ears that stick out. If that's the case... Forget I said anything.

I really am. I shared a homeroom with my overweight female cousin all through high school. She is the sweetest woman...and the guys used to make fun of her as only high school boys can do. She would be in tears many times.
A few times, I got so fucking mad that I would let go a few good punches on the fuckers, but I got the shit beat out of me everytime because they would all jump me.
Horrible, horrible memories.

Recently I was in a situation where I knew I would get my ass kicked, but I still wanted to throw the punch. http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=118&topic_id=338080&mesg_id=338080Luckily cooler heads prevailed. But man... I really, really wanted to put my fist through his face.

I could feel your frustration.
For the record, my opinion is that you did absolutely the right thing.
Getting into a fist fight as an adult is a whole other story than getting into one as a teen.
Too easy to die in one as an adult.

Sorry another link to the gungion: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=118&topic_id=281494&mesg_id=281494It is way to easy to die in a fist fight as an adult. That's why I avoid confrontation that leads in that direction at all costs.

5. I never realized how lacking in compassion people could be until I was on crutches. |

I'd say, looking back, that the ratio of doors held for me in relation to doors allowed to close in my face was at least 10:1

6. Sorry that she and you had to go through that. |
|
. . . Many (if not most) who lash out at people for no good discernible reason do so out of their own insecurity. . . LOOK AT HIM!!!! LOOK AT HER!!!! LOOK AT THEM!!!! . . . . Unfortunately, what most people don't realize that those who do this often, sometimes to the point of compulsion, are not REALLY saying "LOOK AT HER", but "PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DON'T LOOK AT ME!!!!!" . . . . Some see this, but unfortunately most don't... so the magician's trick of misdirection is effective. But those who see how the magician makes his/her "magic" hold them in elevated contempt and/or pity. . . And (I think) it might just be a vicious cycle. Those who realize what they themselves are doing... and, more importantly, WHY... get an even LOWER self-image and seek to compensate for it with even more misdirection -- more abusive behavior. . . . All this does not help your employee... but if it's an approachable subject, you may want to remind her that it's the others' feeling of inadequacy that's truly at fault -- not any "fault" of her own. . . .

10. People are stupid. It's a universal fact. |
|
The majority of people in this world have no class, and aren't afraid to advertise this fact. In fact, they're proud of it.

14. I"ve always been large nowdays I'm fat. Nearly every time |
|
I've eaten at a pot luck lunch at work some one has seen fit to make loud, snide remarks such as " Think you'll get enough to eat?" and "Never met a meal you didn't like, huh?" Its a sure way to tell which people to avoid.
Shortly after I gained a lot of weight, at a memorial service, my father-in-law said this to me and a bunch of his friends, " Mulsh, I didn't think they made suits that big." He's been a source of quite a number of humorous remarks about my weight over the years. He's a very short, fat man but I'd never make fun of his stature.
a few years ago I lost about 100 lbs. the fat "jokes" haven't stopped these same people just use the past tense at time.
"This is the final test of a gentleman: his respect for those who can be of no possible value to him." ~William Lyon Phelps

They're not worthy of your anger. Be yourself, encourage your friend to be herself, and fuck anyone who doesn't like it.

17. I know the feeling... |
|
I had to sit around in sales meetings listening to the men talk about their sexual conquests and describing women as the fat girl, or ugly girl or butter face (everything about her was great, but her face). They would all laugh and get such a kick out of slamming women.
When I left, I made sure I stated in my resignation letter that I was offended at the sexist comments and my manager, who was usually the culprit, had no idea what I was talking about. Clueless sexist jerks!
