that various people consider satisfying ranges widely from things silly but harmless to things quite dangerous and even murderous. Though I am quite sure I myself am not at all interested in associating women's bodies with the work of butchers, the actual history of such psychosexual associations is not always clean and innocent fun

The world of celebrities is full of people desperately trying to get their names out. Lady Ga-Ga is simply better at the game than everyone else. She's surprising, original, constantly changing... and thus never tiresome (with the exception of the nazi-nun-leather-fetish things from "Alejandro," which was a touch Madonaesque).

A meat bikini? Ha! Outlandish, weird, and simultaneously exploitative and anti-exploitative. Fifty years from now people will still be talking about Lady Ga-Ga.

Edited on Wed Sep-08-10 04:51 PM by Deep13
...and denigrating her? One poster here wrote that she is a piece of garbage. No one is required to like her music or act, of course. I just don't see why there is such glee in tearing down some woman. Does it give a sense of superiority? Is there just a primal fear of female sexuality and a need to scape-goat it? I'll never again wonder how the witch-hunt crazes started.

33. Then what is it?
The traditional view is that a woman is either Madonna (the religious figure, not the singer) or a whore. Typically, female social norms are enforced by other women. It's open season on anyone who ends up in disfavor for falling on the "whore" side of the line. There is a real satisfaction that people and especially women take in running down any female who ends up on the out list. It could be a middle school clique viciously picking on an uncool girl. It can be adults running down some entertainer or politician. In any event, there seems to be a real need to have a sexual scape-goat.

56. It's true - I can feel your primal fear of female sexuality from here. It's MONSTROUSLY HUGE.
Edited on Thu Sep-09-10 10:40 AM by Rabrrrrrr
I'd offer a longer litany of your other obvious flaws and fears, but I don't want to overdo it, and I think you have enough to think about with dealing with your primal fear of female sexuality, since it's at such a ridiculously pathological state.

Probably stems from your oedipal obsession, which is also obvious and quite clear based on the fact that you so inappropriately offered a critique of an overtly sexual female performer's talent and made no mention of anything relating to her charged up sexuality, sticking solely to her talent as a performer doing the job she professes to be doing.

When men start seeing sexual females as mere singers or performers or do-ers of whatever job they do, then it's clear that the men fear their sexuality. Fear it PRIMALLY.

Like you.

Otherwise you would have called her ugly or a whore or something, proving that you aren't afraid of her sexuality, but are in fact a disgusting misogynist pig.

It's one or the other, man. And you can't choose "neither".

64. For a windy day, I suggest an Aviation, to go with the theme, or a Stinger, to take the chill off.
Aviation:

6 parts gin
3 parts lemon juice
2 parts Maraschino liqueur

shake with ice and serve straight up in a cocktail glass. I like a little lemon peel to garnish mine. Note that Maraschino Liqueur is NOT the same thing as that shit that the maraschino cherries are put in in those damnable jars, but is in fact a somewhat tart clear liqueur that is made by only a couple places in the maraschino region of Italy.

Stinger

2 parts brandy
1 part clear creme de menthe

Shake with ice, serve straight up in a cocktail glass.

40. Me, too. It's not the age, it's the attitude.
What I really like about her, too, is that although she obviously flaunts her sexuality, she doesn't play the sex kitten role, with the pouty come-hither look, like Britney Spears and Rihanna and most other female pop stars (I'm not trying to insult any of them, just drawing a comparison). She doesn't make herself into a man-toy. She did an interview once where she claimed she was just a rock star, and that if she was male and strode around with a bad-ass attitude and slept with whomever she wanted, people wouldn't care. Since she's a woman, they can't handle it. I love that attitude. She's one of those rare female star that doesn't define herself by how men react to her.

45. she has found a way to be famous and make lots of $$$$$$
yes she has talent

she needs talent or she would not get away with such stuff.

i am sure she cries all the way to the bank

She just had a show in Milwaukee and from the reviews it was excellent and the crowd got to act strange and get away with it.

perhaps more therapeutic then getting drunk

I'm just worried about the tin foil she wrapped it in.

63. what is sad is that of all the music stars on the charts these days
Lady gaga is perhaps the most politically active progressive out there.

She would be right at home at du.

I AM very impressed with the stands that she takes up on the stage.

68. She's also reasonably talented
It's a mistake to lump her in with the rest of the prefab pop tarts. Gaga actually has some vocal and songwriting ability, and I can imagine her having a long career, a la Bowie or Elton John, who were also dismissed as theatrical goobers early in their careers.

75. That Bowie comparison is one that her handlers will desperately try to push...
and I have been predicting that about GagaCo for awhile? Why? Because everyrhing about that third-rate hag act is so predictable.
Gaga is not fit to eat Bowie's coke snot.

80. Us "old farts" wouldn't know anything about that, would we now?
Even some of us who are not old farts ( I'm only 35 ) but I know a non-talent when I see one...and just look upthread for some of her more...shall I say, premium defenders?

Bowie comparisons? I think we both need whatever it is these fuckers are smoking nowadays!!! I WANTZZZZ!@!@!$

82. Oh, come on - we live in an age in which Glenn Beck has reclaimed the Civil Rights Movement.
Of course Lady Gaga is the new Bowie.

And we've always been at war with Eurasia.

And global warming is just a myth, evolution is just a theory, and smart people are worthless because they think too much instead of going with their gut, like the real experts do.

how to market herself. (No sarcasm at all. I've never heard one of her songs, but I've heard ABOUT her an awful lot. She sure knows how to get attention.)

PS: Her tits are awfully saggy for such a young woman, aren't they?

If she had Barbie doll boobies, people would complain about that, instead. Anyway, you can't really tell much from from the shadowfall in a single photo.
