My sister left today

Hello DU, it's been a long time since I've posted about anything of real personal significance. As some of you might remember, I lost my husband HerrHerr in an automobile accident on January 2, 2010 and soon after that, my big sister of the heart Dystopian, started a fund raiser to help my sister Jill stay with me here in Germany. Thanks to the generosity and love from the DU community, Jill was able to stay with me until today, nine months after my loss.

As we said goodbye today, we marveled at the kindness of each and every person who made it possible that she could see me through the worst days of my life.

I've made a point of trying to pay it forward to people who need my help as well. I'm teaching English to a woman who is unemployed and trying to pass an exam required from the unemployment office. I will spend the rest of my life helping others, in no small part because of the help and love I've been shown here on DU.

It's nice to hear an update and I truly hope you're doing ok. It must have been very hard for you and your sister to part. I remember when my sister, my best friend, used to come to visit me in Calif ... I would cry and feel so empty when she left. I can only imagine how you must feel without that support now.

Please don't hesitate to reach out when you're feeling down or lonely. There are so many people who love and admire you, think of you, pray for you and are wishing you the best, including me.

27. Dear Jennifer...

I hope you have friends nearby to continue to act as a support system for you. You definitely have that here but IRL would be good, too.

Wishing you continued healing. As unbearable as this seems now, please know that while this will always cause you some amount of pain, peace will come in time. I hope you find it when you are ready.
