Poll question: Have you ever been caught masticating?
I know this may embarrasing to some of you, but there's lots of mastication talk these days. Have you ever been caught masticating?

7. My mother did.
It was so embarassing. I told her I was trying to see what I sounded like with food in my mouth. After that, I only did it when I was sure I was alone.

9. It's okay to masticate
as long as you don't make too much noise, and don't leave anything on the underside of the table, or on the sidewalk.

17. This reminds me of the southern politician who said his opponent was
a known Homo Sapiens, and his sister was a Thespian, and that she had matriculated when she was in high school.

20. "You look like a cow chewing on cud." Heard that all the time
in school when I was caught with gum. One of the deadly sins.

"What gum?" I would say after swallowing it. That really disgusted the teacher.

24. Are you sure you are "old" mark? Gum was a major sin
when I was in school. I have no idea whether it still is or not, but sharing gum was not an option.

All else, yes, you had better have enough for everyone. Ah, the golden rules we grew up with.

28. IIRC, that applied more to candy - and I did attend a private religious school,
not your common "public" school.
(I am 63 and still recovering from it.)

I am still wondering what benefit I derived from 4 years of high school, too...looking back, it seems like a total waste of time.

Did you like Juicy Fruit? I liked Black Jack.

30. I was a common public school student. There was no money
for private anything in our household, just as well. I would not have done well in religious school from what I heard from people who did that.

I did like Juicy Fruit as a kid, but can't stand it now. But there was another kind I liked better---can't remember it, but there were different fruit flavors in each pack. By high school, I had moved on to Teaberry. Funny how gum isn't appealing to me anymore though. Oh, and I always hated Black Jack. I hate anything anise.

And, ok, I believe you are "old" mark. I'm not far behind you and my strategy is to not look in mirrors anymore.
