Do you ever reply back to the scam emails you get? |
|
I love sending replies back to the ones saying they want to send me money telling them, "I already have lots of money so please donate my winnings or inheritance to charity".
The ones requesting my user name and password for bank accounts and credit cards, "jack", "meoff"

1. Occasionally, my usual reply is |
|
"Congratulations! You have made the spammer list and have been reported to your ISP and the proper authorities."
That's resulted in a considerable decrease in the amount I get6.

2. I have said that also. |

And really believe anything from what I have posted over the last years should go to help those most in need.
However I am also due from years ago, and I will get beer and travel money, and many good experiences, for those wrongs done to me many years ago.

3. There was a fun story on NPR a few years back about a guy who enjoyed playing |

the Nigerian email scammers. His game was to very slowly feed them in tiny irregular bits an ever more complicated story, indicating his continuing interest in helping them with the promised millions, but always encountering a new unfortunate twist. I don't remember details: it had the flavor of Now Aunt Gertie has died, I have finally gotten power of attorney over Uncle Bing's affairs, and I've cut the $10K check but when I scraped up another $100 to get the required export stamp, I found they'd raised the price to $250

6. I used to now and then. |

But once you reply, they know your email address is attached to a live person (potential sucker). So now I send them into my junk mail folder.

I say things too nasty to repeat here to the ones who email saying that they're looking for a date or wanting me to watch them on webcam.
