1. What a shame that a talented young actress is on such a road.
Call me a softie, but I'm really cheering for her to get her life back together, stay away from her insane family and get back to a stable life...if she ever had one. :(

7. Another poster compared her to Drew Barrymore
hoping Lindsey could get her life back together like Drew did if she dumped her family member enablers. Probably true of many addicts in general.

:hi:

2. Who gives a shit?
If this was a generic case in Akron Municipal Court with the same facts and offenses, but with an ordinary defendant, no one would care.

3. I would.
Alcoholism and addiction have affected my family and, whether it is a huge celebrity or a generic case in Akron Municipal Court, I care. Both need help. I agree the sentencing was horrific in Lohan's case but I am a proponent of treatment over punishment. Punishment does not address the problem. There are those of us who can "give a shit" about both.

Hope you have a good day.

5. I mean that the public cannot pay attention to or get emotionally invested...
...in every misdemeanor case involving drunkenness. Most cases begin and are resolved without the public ever being aware of it. What makes this one so special besides the media's obsession with movie actors?

6. Because we have televisions and movie theaters.
I do see a positive in this case, if it is used as an example of the need for treatment in all cases, evenly and across the board. For me, it's a better idea than movie stars crusading for causes on Capitol Hill.

9. But some sort of punishment before treatment can be the shock a person needs
so they accept treatment as necessary to pulling themselves out of the shithole and saving their own life.

Worked for my Mom that way. When she realized she might go to jail, DUI, that was the wake up call that she needed. Lohan on the other hand needs at least 90 days in jail and maybe, just maybe, she might realize she's that fucked up, IMHO. She has a lot of resources at her disposal that many others don't have access to.

Or.... she will die and she'll be another pathetic drug-death statistic and that's how she'll be remembered. The girl needs a SERIOUS wake-up call and she better get it soon.

4. Celebs are inherently fookin nuts
they crave attention or validation of themselves from others that they must not have gotten as children. They sell their whatever (movies music etc)and then spend the rest of the time stumbling into the same pitfalls of fame and money over and over.

I think the song by Teddy Thompson and his sister written by their mother Linda Thompson about Pete Doherty the lead singer of babyshambles...

8. It's SoCal, and she's a celebrity
She'll be in jail for 10 minutes, pay a $50 fine, and be on her way.

10. The more she fails, the more I believe that the Universe intends us to marry.
I've realized this, this morning, and everything is starting to fall into place.
