CareerBuilder.com sends me about 15 job openings each day |
|
At least seven are "Exciting Business Opportunities!"
and the remainder are for jobs at least 600 miles away.
A very helpful site, CareerBuilder.com.

does this mean it's not a good time to tell you about my new exciting business opportunity? I was really counting on your investment Orrex. :(

2. Don't count on Monster or any other site to do better. I've tried. |
|
And I sympathize with you. I totally gave up on the online job search.

4. Post your email address and I'll forward an amazing email I received from Nigeria |
|
It's from a man in the Nigerian government who has several million dollars in a bank account and he's looking for help to get it out, and will pay a commission to anyone who sends him money and helps him. This could tide you over until that job offer comes in.
Don't thank me, I'm only too happy to help.

5. It actually has been somewhat helpful for me |
|
I got interviews for a few of the jobs that I saw on that site when I was lloking for jobs before my current position. I also get dozens of jobs sent to me regularly although probably most of them aren't really jobs that would be appropriate for one reason or another, but most are within 50-100 miles of where I live. I'm not actually seriously looking for a job as I got a promotion and there are some exciting things happening in the company. I probably will be more seriously looking in a couple years as the company is seriously dysfunctional and I think that they aren't willing to pay as much as I could make elsewhere. I haven't adjusted my Career Builder settings in quite some time, but perhaps there are settings that allow you to target your search more locally. Maybe it is the area where you live. I live in Wisconsin and there seem to be a lot of jobs listed there and a large chain of newspapers (Gannet) uses it as their website's job search.
