My daughter made first violin, 7th chair as a freshman!
Only freshman to make first violin too out of over 70 violinists in the orchestra. Very proud of her.

The school has a great reputation for music and academics.

Daddy had to brag a bit. ;)

9. It's tragic when kids are exposed to violins at such a young age
Keep her away from sax!

(After you're done splitting your sides laughing @ my raucously funny comments, please pass along my congratulations to your daughter!)

16. Her high school orchestra. 2k+ students in the school.
She made the chamber orchestra, which is the better of the orchestras at the school.

The school also has different bands as well. Great school for music. She's really enjoying it.

24. Public school. Only one high school in town, but several middle and elementary schools.
So all the kids end up going to the same high school. It's a big campus.

14. Very good! A few questions though....
My daughter, 10, is interested in trying the violin. How painful was it when your daughter first started? Did your ears bleed? I'm a little scared.

I hope your daughter is proud of her accomplishment!

She started in third grade at around the age of 7-8 in school. She's 14 now.

My kids have had wonderful experiences with HS music. (and I don't mean the 'one time at band camp' kind)

Good Luck to her!

22. Congratulations to her (and you) from an old French horn player.
If I picked up a horn these days, I'd probably play something that sounds like goose farts on a muggy day.

You deserve be very proud of your daughter. It takes both talent and alot of practice to prevail over such competition. Good for her; and accolades to you as her parent too. You've clearly done something right! :-)
