Who out there is a morning person? |
|
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . I admit to being something of a "slug-a-bed" in the mornings. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

3. I've always hated morning people |
|
I insist on living in California or the West Coast but I'm intimately involved with the stock and bond exchanges. So even though I despise it I'm up and in my office just before 6:30 am. The worst part is I wake at 5 am even on my days off. But thank god for coffee.
Morning people, wtf. There's a distinct herd of them that get up early enough to have breakfast BEFORE WORK. At a restaurant. I do not grok this. I used to see them when I kept vampire hours and would just be getting home at 7 am.

Um, that would be no.
I can do it, but only under duress.
I did it all the time, when I was working.
Thank goodness that's over!

So I force myself to be awake early enough to get to work in ten minutes and be reasonably awake the rest of the day. If I was allowed to get to work at 10a and work until 7p, I'd be very happy :D

I was a morning person and *loved* it. I miss morning light but something changed and I can't get back on that schedule again.
I like the night only because it's quiet but it's a bit hard to paint in the dark....

|
. . . . MiddleFingerMomMom told me that when she used to come into my room to wake me for school as early as the 1st or second grade, she would often find me still awake from the night before... reading books. . . . The way I see it... I was a nightperson long BEFORE I discovered "YEEHAA!!!!!" . . .

25. If I could work a set schedule it would be second shift |
|
Edited on Tue Sep-21-10 09:42 AM by Tobin S.
I like being able to sleep until I wake up naturally, which today was 9:45am.
As it is, I have to keep odd hours. I might be working from 11pm to 9am one day and over the course of a week it will creep around to 2pm to midnight. Sometimes, I'll drive half the night to get to a shipper, get to sleep, and have to wake up 4 hours later to stick my truck in the dock and help unload. You will later find me taking a 4 hour nap in the afternoon.
It's a difficult schedule and it's probably one of the things about trucking that's hardest on your body. That and Twinkies, but that's another topic all-together. :)
I always stop to get some sleep when I'm too tired to drive, though. If it will make me late then so be it. You ain't gonna find my truck laying on its side in a corn field or wrapped around a bunch of trees.
On edit: I accidentally posted in the worng place, but I guess this works, too.

16. Serious question: Is there a way to BECOME a morning person? |

If I wanted to change my ways and actually WANT to get up and at 'em in the early morning hours, what's the best way to go about it?

I love the quiet of early morning when it's still dark, being alone with The Wiley and Excellent Boy Cat Named Ginger and my first cup of coffee, then seeing the sun come up and hearing the neighborhood coming to life. :)

Plan my day and get ready for the chaos that will break out for about an hour or so while the kids are getting ready for school. :D

Even so, I'm usually up by 6:30 on the weekends. I get out of the house as early as possible. Empty city during daylight hours on a cool summer morning just can't be beat.

23. I'm a morning person. I'm usually awake before the alarm goes off at 5:00. |
|
Even on weekends I find it hard to stay asleep until 6:00. I'm usually in bed by 10:30 or 11:00 at night. I seem to require only 6 hours or so of sleep at night. This has been my schedule for 30+ years.

I like drinking coffee on my patio in the early morning hours.
I usually take a nap later in the day to revive myself for the night.

I'm pretty much a morning person-- it's sometimes difficult to get moving an hour or more before the sun rises, but once up I'm usually good to go. In the gym or my office before 7:00 AM most days, and my early class meets at 8:00.

31. When I worked as a nurse |
|
I always, but always, worked nights. Not just for the differential in pay, but cause I preferred it. More babies were born then, and the other folks who worked nights were just as odd and unconventional as I was, even - maybe especially - in the military. There's just something about being awake in the middle of the night, when the administrative types aren't around to harass, bring their BS to you, or force meetings on you and your folks, that bonds people. Plus - I've never been a morning person, never.
Even when I moved to Japan, where night in the US is day there, I preferred nights. Weird.
