Help! I'm so freakin bored (a rant)
I had surgery three weeks ago today to repair a posterior dislocation of my left shoulder (thank goodness I'm right-handed) and I've had to wear this brace 24 hrs a day with the exception of showers. (not me in the pic)

I cant drive for at least 4 more weeks, and Mrs Nightwatcher is out of town with work till Thurs or Friday. Oh yes, I cant work for at least another six weeks and jobs are starting to pick up.

With the exception of doctor's appointments (2), I've only left the house once in three weeks (for sushi, but I was sick from painpills).

On the upside, I've got an excellent scar on my shoulder from being opened like a luau pig and two screws in my shoulder.

1. Dude. Find some way to entertain yourself. Use your imagination.

I have a kitten. She chases her tail.
Just cleaning the house is a good start. Fix things, etc.
People lose their whole arm. And learn to live a one armed life.

3. Get a dumbbell and just work out like crazy with your good arm
Then, when the brace comes off you'll have one huge muscle-y arm and one spaghetti arm. It may not help with the boredom, but it would look pretty cool...

4. Been there done that, got the scar to match
What I did was find a really cool internet forum and get hooked on social networking on the computer. Of course, that was in 1883 when it was relatively new. I spent so much time in the house, my friends sent out a delegation to check to make sure Mr.csziggy had not done away with me. It did not help that I could not get any shirts on without cutting the entire side out, leaving me flapping in the breeze.

The second shoulder surgery (on the other shoulder) was worse as far as boredom since it was my dominant arm that was out of commission. On the bright side, I am now ambidextrous with a mouse and can type a good 10 words a minute with my left hand.

Got any interests you have not had the time before to pursue? While I was recuperating, I learned a lot about photography, computers, genealogy, history, etc. from internet contacts.

Any friends, colleagues you could make contact with? Spend time catching up with friends or setting up contacts for when you can work again.

I really do understand how much it sucks - the recovery is long and it is a PITA having that arm strapped down. Just try to find something to keep your mind busy and don't go nuts!

Good luck with the healing and the therapy.

6. Netflix
Find a good series and watch the whole thing. When that's over, watch another one.

Hope you figure something out, man.
