In the hospital with a hurt foot
Been here since Sunday. Ran over my foot with a riding mower. Duh. I go back under the knife Monday. That will make 3 times with more to follow. Hurts like hell. Ask me anything about infomercials. Please dear God, may I never have to pee into a bottle again. It's hard to use a laptop when it's actually sitting on your lap.

Can anyone out there give me a brief review of what's happened since Sunday?

1. My dear Lasher...
Ouch, that sounds truly painful! I hope like crazy that you will soon be healed, and back home!

The Lounge is a quiet peaceful place these days.

5. Yes, it hurt a little
My toes are purple but it's good they are not black. My surgeons are not worried right now about putting the bones back together. They are focused on saving soft tissue. I will be delighted if I don't lose any toes. I messed myself up real good.

I hope you're getting excellent care, too

As for what's been going on around here, maybe go looking at just the locked threads for an idea... ;)

4. Maybe I''ll check out the greatest top tens and look for the fights.
Getting excellent care. I'm lucky to have good retiree medical coverage. If I didn't I would probably lose my foot. That is morally reprehensible. Lots of trouble typing, sorry.

6. Yes, straight down a hillside.
Grass was damp and slick, so I slid down the hill. I developed a sort of a speed wobble, if you know what I mean. Stuck out my foot tith the thing stqabilize the mower. Bad move I guess but at least I didn't end up with the thing on top of me.

Mrs. Lasher does the mowing but I was doing the rough spots I don't want her to mow because she might hurt herself. Ha ha. Well at least she's OK.

53 minutes till I can have my awesome pain IV. Hurry up, Mr clock. Having trouble typing, guess I'll log off for now. Thanks for the vibes.

My dad wouldn't let ME mow the yard because of the slope. Keep us posted. Best to Mrs. Lasher-- I'm sure she'll take good care of you!

11. OK, I'll do updates.
Pain med helped a lot so I can function better now. On the other side of that fence, I've lately been even goofier than usual. I'm not used to this laptop with its onboard sorry excuse for an actual mouse.

They have managed to isolate the germ(s) causing the infection. This is good news because they are now administering antibiotics formulated to more directly focus on this specific threat.

So I'm doing OK right now, all considered. Looking forward to WVU at LSU tomorrow at 9 PM eeastern.

18. Boss came by with a box ofRussell Stover chocolates.
Totally unexpected. I'd just hired on and only met her once. What a thoughtful gesture.

My mother was here on the same floor but she went home today. Blood pressure problem.

Daughter had an emergency c section and she went home today too. The baby can't go home yet - not getting enough oxygen.

Mrs. Lasher is going nuts.

That will make three so far, with others to follow. Right now they're not attempting to repair bone damage. Sorry to be so brief, the cursor on this borrowed laptop is jumping around randomly and I have to make lots of corrections.

I'm sorry about your toe. On the bright side, you will keep your foot if all goes well. MsLasther must be beside herself with so many loved ones in hospital.

I hope you heal quickly and that the pain is bearable in the meantime. Blessings on your new grandbaby too. I hope you will both be back home soon.

Get better.

About the only thing my elderly step-father can do now is mow his HUGE yard with the riding mower. The yard is very hilly so I hope he is very careful.

Good luck to you!!

40. Thanks Roon.
I know I'll have to get back on that horse, but I'll sure be careful. This morning I dreamed I'd have to stay here forever, cruel hags around me, forever stabbing me with their steely knives.

OK listen to the crybaby. Now they're saying I'll probably go home Tuesday. After that I'll never leave my property again.

Looks like they'll be cutting on me for a long time.

Now I need to scare up extra covers, in preparation for sleep tonight. They'll hit me with the heavy pain killer in 15 minutes and I'll drop off then.

Nighty night.

I asked my nurse to check my bandage. When she did my foot fell in the floor. The look on her face was priceless.

36. I only ate a couple.
I've had very little apetite since I've been here, and haven't eaten much. Wonder how much I weigh. I'd been trying to lose 20 pounds.

I used almost all the chocolates to bribe the staff to get special treatmnt. It's been effective.

I appreciate you and the rest of my DU family for keeping me company while I'm laid up.
