What do I say if I bump into someone in the neighbourhood who I don't want
to be friends with, who I don't want any contact with. So far I've avoided her but I know I will run into her one day and I don't want to encourage her or bait her or give her cause to 'run me down' one more time (when have done nothing that has still been a reason for her to react and run me down). Someone here years ago suggested I just laugh and nod. My sister suggested that I make it positive because if it is an angry situation that will just turn it into a big to-do. I'm tongue tied these days for some reason. How do I say "hello...sorry I've got to go"? What are the words? Help!

1. My words, would be, "Sorry, I'm just not one for socializing."
I've actually had to say that.

And the truth is that I am totally one for socializing.

Just not with that person.

2. I can't say that because then she'll spread it around the neighbourhood that
I am not social. See what I mean?

6. My dear applegrove...
I'm not sure what I'd do if I were talking to someone else, and she came up.

But if I were out walking, I'd just wave and keep on walking.

I'm sorry you're in this mess. It sucks.
