1. In the day, I was heavily into Maiden, but Priest has worn the test of time
a little better than Maiden.

2. Maiden kind of lost me after Piece of Mind
JP lost a bit of steam later on their career, but I do think that overall their stuff still holds up.

7. Saxon's "Crusader" is definitely worth a listen if you've never heard it
before. I offer this as a public service to anyone who missed this during the 80's:

8. Sorry, but Girlschool should be banned from any "greatest" lists.
I saw them open for Quiet Riot once, and they sucked so badly even QR seemed talented by comparison.

Tygers is an interesting choice. I had one of their tapes, and I liked it back in the day.

9. Voted for Def Leppard out of spite.
You know, the whole liberal "support the underdog" thing. And Def Leppard is a great band. And they are metal, even though it is "pop" metal.

I think the most interesting and creative band in that list is actually Iron Maiden, though.

11. I thought "Pyromania" was great, but after that...
..."Pour Some Sugar On Me?"

PUH-LEEEZ.

"You hear footsteps in the night, see shadows on the wall
And the ghostly sound of silence, as the mist begins to fall
Then a scream rang out like thunder but the lightening was too late
As the rain came down on the crimson ground was the hand of fate
And a crowd of people gathered 'round but Billy couldn't wait"

...not that's rock and roll. Maybe not "metal," but definitely rock & roll.
