When it first came out, I thought Smallville was pretty hokey...
But the HD channel on my AT&T Cable has been showing the whole series from the beginning to the last year.

This is Smallvilles 10th and last season.

I grew up, a geeky kid reading Superman comics. Even when I got older and gravitated toward the more dark Marvel line, I still have always had a thing for the Kryptonian.

So I started watching, usually while I am riding my stationary bike.

and I can't believe how cool they have intertwined the old with the new including chrsitopher Reeves as a continuing charactor, Linda Carter, Margo Kidder and Terrance Stamp, all actors who were id'ed with DC comic heroes.

Jonathan Kent, Clark's earth father, was played by John Schneider, one of the Dukes of Hazard. In one episode To Wopat, the other "duke" came back as an old friend of Jonathan's. There was a scene where he drove up in an old Charger with the door busted so he had to swoop through the window apparently like they did in the DOH. Never watched the show. I thought that was a clever way to pay homage to by gone series.

The have constantly tantalized the audience with flapping Red Cloth in the background, dreams of flying with the blue and red fluttering and even brought the Legion of Superheros from the 23rd century.

Other Characters from Green Arrow, Aquaman, the Martian Manhunter, Hawkman, Dr, Fate, Wildcat and even the Flash have shown up just like they did in the comic books.

There are also the snippets of themes from previous Superman movies and cartoons that float in and ground what they are doing into the legend that was created by two geeky Cleveland kids back in 1936.

There is a lot wrong with the series but there is far more right with it.

This year, Clark will become Superman and get rid of the weird Blur alter ego.

I really have grown to like this series. It's cheesy, but the writing is pretty good with great comic book style banter. Lot's of action and just pain fun.

Tom Welling, the young actor who has grown into the role, would be a great choice for the next Superman Movie. He has earned that right if he wants it.

Anyway, if you haven't been watching you probably aren't that interested. But if you watched a long time ago and stopped, it's time to give it another look.
