HGTV Today
Saw one of the home remodel programs on HGTV this morning and they featured a beautiful (actually almost perfect) very large home in Indiana I believe. The couple had finished their basement out and it was gorgeous to my view. Someone was brought in to access the remodel and all they had to say were bad things. It just struck me how spoiled and greedy a small segement of society is today. They have money to waste again and again doing remodels and then tearing them down to do more remodels. Some people would be happy to be able to afford to buy a home or just have a decent place to live and it doesn't have to have granite counter tops either.

1. You're right.
When I was at my sister's and was watching there was a program where people would challenge a realtor to find their perfect home. It so amazed me how snooty some of these people were. Even if the slightest thing wasn't quite spot on, they would whine about it. The program I saw was in SF and it was a young professional couple with a baby. As expensive as it is to find anything even close to reasonably priced, they were the pickiest damn people.

Happier living simply than bending the pressures of perfection. :hi:

2. Also, at lot of times I am in disbelief as to how much space
some people need. They could be a couple with maybe one child and they need practically a mansion to live in. I don't get it?

3. Just goes to show how different people can be!...
I saw one once where the couple was very upbeat the whole time. They'd walk into a room, outdated or in need of work, and they could not bring themselves to say anything negative. Instead, they'd find something positive to focus on. And then there are the snots who walk into a home and have nothing positive to say. There was a couple who refused to buy a place BECAUSE the kitchen had been updated with granite counter tops and it just wasn't their style.

I guess it's why there are so many different styles in the world. To each his own!

4. Some of the people on those shows are insufferable. If a place

doesn't have granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, and hardwood floors throughout, they thrust their snooty little noses in the air and declare it unfit for habitation even though it might be the perfect size and location. In this economy remodeling a home is a luxury. People ought to be happy just to have a roof over their heads. Many don't.
