Dexter on Showtime - Debra Morgan should've been killed, not Rita
I guess Jennifer Carpenter couldn't stand the sex scenes between Michael C. Hall and Julie Benz

1. I don't get Showtime so I have no dog in the fight, but isn't that something of a spoiler?

2. nah, it's last seasons result. (Rita's death)
Not a total spoiler.

Deb's death would have been a total bummer. Nothing like a (very) foul-mouthed female character. :-)

I don't have showtime either, but this is the internet, you can get what you want.

18. I'm Deb ;p
I have no control over anything in my life except my mouth. Since cursing although less so today than years ago it is still frowned upon. I do it! :bounce: Cheap Thrills

10. Not so fast
Luckily I just watched it last week, so it wasn't a spoiler for me, but keep in mind that some people only watch these shows on DVD through Netflix, so don't assume that all fans have seen what you've seen.

We're now waiting for the first disc of Lost: Season 6.

13. Not everyone gets Showtime or reads gossip magazines...
...so not everyone knew that. Those who have waited for the DVD but didn't run out and buy it the first week or watch it all at once would not have known that.

4. Rita is still alive and well in the books.
As are Doakes and Dexter's brother.

Rita is particularly annoying in the latest book, so I wouldn't feel too bad if she was...removed, shall we say, from the books.

7. I have only read the first three books and only book one
seemes to remotely have anything to do with the tv series. Apparently book five comes out this month, if it isn't out already.

9. I agree 100%
If her character would have stayed the way it was in the first season, I would've been upset by her death. Toward the middle of last season though, I was wishing for her death during every episode because of her constant nagging and mood swings.

Love the actress though and I look forward to seeing her new show.

11. Julie Benz (Rita) Has The Lead Actress Role on a New Network TV Show
Which pays a lot more than a premium cable show does.

15. Give a general subject then Spoiler Alert in title
That way people that have DVR'd the show/s can watch at their own pace without having it spoiled for them. I don't want you to think I'm being mean, but many of us don't watch our shows live.
Thanks

16. ??
Why would you even say that? Deb is such a multi-faceted character compared to Rita, the sad sack, who whispered her way through 4 seasons and was a very unlikable individual.

Do you think they ended Six Feet Under because Jennifer Carpenter couldn't stand to see her husband doing sex scenes with other men?

???

I knew her face but, thought her name was Julie Benz. Doh It's a bitch getting old. ;P

Soooo Jennifer Carpenter is the brunette 'sister' and is married to Dexter. The blonde wife's real name is Julie Benz. Got it! And as my son would say, 'Go back to sleep, Mom'. :(

Do I get second prize for knowing the names of their characters. :)

27. I think that's worth a prize.
My memory does that too. I remember one time last year, I was racking my brain to think of the name of Julie Benz's character. I often space out on names that I should know, that I do know. It seems that as I've gotten older, I find myself picturing the face and being clueless on the name. Scary shit. Making it even scarier, I'm not that great on faces either. :scared:

25. Dexter Season four ended in Dec. of last year. I think nine months
is a long enough amount of time to not have to issue spoiler alerts.

based on what I said above, and, if people are so concerned about it being spoiled for them, why the hell haven't they caught up now that
the new season is upon us?

They can't care that much can they?

Were/are people gonna wait another six months to catch up on the season 5 DVD release?

Whatever.

35. I have to disagree.
People don't all get turned on about a show at the same time. I watched the first season of Dexter and wasn't that impressed but decided to give it another shot and got hooked after renting the second season so I'm a little behind the folks who've been following the show all along and who have moved on to the next season. It was just last Friday that I saw the episode where Rita got killed so the subject line of this thread would have really sucked for me if I hadn't just finished watching that season. I don't think it's too much to ask to put info like that in the text of the post (with a warning) and not in the subject line.

It may be old news to those with Showtime, but not to those of us who do not. It was a jerk move.

31. Still there is no reason for the spoiler in the topic
not in the age of netflix when many people would just now be getting around to watching Season 4. most of us don't have Showtime. i agree that a long time has passed since this occured on the show, but the polite thing to do would still be to give a "potential spoiler" warning in the topic. as it is now, anyone in the DU Lounge knows what happens to Rita. Not cool IMO.
