Admittedly I am a SF Giants fan
and the Giants may make the playoffs.

This is the video for the earthquake in 1989 World Series.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z8ExMR0c0aM

I was not at the game and missed the segment because I had to stay at work and came home to a neighbor dazed in the street and also a SF Giant fan. I was "acquainted with" then the widow of the fellow that servived and died on the Bay Bridge -- she was a local barmaid -- either name slips me. He was from Trinity county, Minersville and was buried in the Minersville cemetary. Minerville has been no more since the early 60s as the town was removed for Trinity Lake (nee Clair Engle Lake) because of a dam.

I toured the damaged area in the Marina about 2 weeks later and have pictures somewhere with a gf met in grad school at Cal.

1. still remember watching that game at our old apartment and watching the
ensuing chaos. I follow the Giants as well, partially because I live in Pittsburgh, which has not been the place for winning baseball for a while.

Good luck to your Giants! I hope to see a game there next time I'm in the city.

2. I am secretly too,
I'm close to Philly and love the Phillies, but the Giants were my childhood heroes. Mays, Mccovey, Marichal, Ron Hunt, Orlando Cepeda. All those great players in the days when the game was pure and magical. Always want them to do well.
