Nouns and Verbs.
"Building" is a verb, not a noun. You can call it a "building" while they're actually building it, but afterward, you'd have to call it a "finished". And that's an adjective.

"Show". Same thing. Showing is an action, a verb. A "Show" is now a noun for what is actually a verb. "Show me something" now means "(noun) me something". Which could be painful.

"Fly" is what the insect does, not what it is. Sometimes it lands and stays landed. Oddly, the same is true with butterflies.

"News" as well. Show me that which is new. So long as you're not nouning me that which is new.

And what is up with the word "kayak"? Is it just me, or is it the same read toward the middle from either end? What's with that anyway? ;)

1. For a long time people believed that butterfly
started out as the word 'flutter-by' and the letters got interchanged, but nowadays folks don't believe that. On the other hand, an orange actually did start out as a norange. This sort of observation led the great French writer Alexandre Dumas to observe that of all hothouses, the one which brought out the strangest buds was etymology.

12. We've been verbing nouns for years
(First recorded use of 'verb' as a verb: 1936, though that was probably in jest:

"The Poet accused me of verbing a noun, but I soon fixed him. I threatened to noun a verb.")
