We have decided to immediately go in to training for this hike. Earliest possible time frame will be early next fall. On our last hike Alley broke her ankle and had to be air lifted off a mountain. This time we will build up, and Alley is not taking a step on a trail without custom ankle support hiking boots.

Those are wonderful pics! Be sure that Alley's hiking boots aren't too heavy.

I fell in Europe while wearing very sturdy waterproof hiking shoes......and they were HEAVY. I was tired, and tripped over a concrete paver that had an edge up a tiny bit.

Fell flat on my face, bounced a couple of times, and luckily didn't break anything but my glasses...

I'd never had a problem with those boots before, but the combination of the weight, my fatigue and the fact that I was hurrying...

Just sayin'...

You should definitely get to the mountains though.
