1. I used duck tape to make duck tape cable during Hurricane Ike.
A small tree was next to the house and was beating up the side of the house.

I tied two trees together with duck tape, and not even Hurricane Ike's high winds could beat duck tape.

I have pictures somewhere.

The fun part was being out about in 50 miles per hour wind.

Duck tape cable is stronger then rope.

The trees did not hit the house after the duck tape cable, not even at the highest winds.

Duck tape rules.

2. Duct tape saved me
from driving with a hanging bumper all the way to NYC.

As I was driving from Texas to NY in my old college beater the front of half of my bumper came apart in Tennessee. I went straight to a hardware store and taped that baby up.

It lasted my entire trip of three weeks with rain and snow all the way!! When I sold the old girl the buyer had a heck of a time taking it off!

Duct tape ROCKS!

3. I mended the 14-qt bowl on my Cuisinart with a small piece of duct tape.
Only now, at least a decade later, do I need to replace the bowl (which isn't made any longer.) It's too bad it wouldn't work on the chopper blade, too, but the cracked plastic is in a very hard-to-get spot and wouldn't be worth attempting to fix. If anyone wants a couple of scimitar-curved serrated Cuisinart blades, let me know :D

Great concept, everything you need will always be available, could be a comment on 'want' also.

8. I was having my "big party" and waited until a half hour before it started
to vacuum my rug. Well, wouldn't you know, the vacuum cleaner picked the wrong time to break! Rather than face my guests with a dirty rug, I got down on my hands and knees with a roll of duct tape and used the tape to pick up lint and dirt on the rug. All night long, my guests commented on how nice my rug was. I would have been a social pariah had it not been for duct tape.

Okay, mine was the best story. Where do I pick up my prize?

9. my dad taping up the muffler or other pipe under the car in Manhattan?
when we were driving through there to take one of my siblings to college.

At the time, it seemed like a very "greatest generation" thing to do (or a smart, but cheapskate thing to do!)

11. === Adhesive Strapless Bra ===

This is great for evening gowns and tube tops. Cut a strip of duct tape about 4-6 inches long. Use your hand to uplift one of your breasts, and put on the duct tape. Keep putting on the duct tape until you get the support you want. Make sure it isn't bumpy at all!

12. I worked for a trucking company that had duct tape that was color matched to their trucks.
I went through many rolls of the stuff. It was primarily used to patch leaky trailers.

I'd still be there now if that turnkey hadn't been carrying duct tape! Ahh, freedom!

14. I used it on a WV Thing with an electrical problem.
Couldn't get the wipers to work, had to get somewhere in a snowstorm. That windshield is so flat snow wouldn't ride up and over it - it was instant white out.

The driver and I made duct tape loops attached to sticks and stuck the loops over the ends of the wipers. Driving with his hand out the driver's window and mine out the passenger's window, we could pull left, then right, manually moving the blades so we could see.

17. waterbed, leak, middle of the night...
Duct tape and superglue - worked like a charm.

The worst time though was a huge gusher one night when I had the flu - 102 temp and throwing up.... and it was snowing freezing outside. I had to get up, get the hose, connect it (find the connector!!) to the bed, start the pump (the suction kind - 'primed' the old fashioned way) and drain it down until the gushing stopped. Put down all the towels, cloths, blankets, etc in the house to try and keep the rest of the carpet (not just around the bed) from getting soaked. . . . all the while, running periodically to the bathroom to throw up.

Probably one of the most miserable nights of my life.

Next day I found the metal logo that had come "unstapled" from my suitcase a few days before had punctured the mattress. Duct tape still worked on that too, though!!
